Ok I’ve avoided commenting on the whole Miss Universe controversy because frankly I don’t care. But the crap is all over the place and it’s impossible to avoid. First of all anyone who thinks Donald Trump was going to strip that lying ditz Carrie Prejean of her crown was smoking drugs. Trump doesn’t care about honesty or integrity he only cares about himself and controversy sells, when was the last time a stupid Beauty Pagent generated any kind of publicity? What I don’t understand is how this ditz (I’m trying hard to avoid profanity) can justify being a jesus freak while lying everytime she opens her brainless mouth. She was on the Today show this morning or yesterday claiming she didn’t take the Nude photos, it was a “wardrobe malfunction,” yeah, right. I hate people like this which is why I rarely do any celebrity coverage at Eclipse. But she won’t go away. Anyway, finally today, someone does a classy thing – the California Pagent Co-Director, Shanna Moakler stepped down today saying,
“Since the press conference yesterday, I had a chance to think about what has taken place, and I feel that at this time it is in my best interest to resign from the Miss California USA organization,” Moakler said in a statement this morning.
“I cannot with a clear conscious move forward supporting and promoting the Miss Universe Organization when I no longer believe in it, or the contracts I signed committing myself as a youth.” In my book that’s called class and following the courage of your convictions.
I’ve whined and complained all season about how obviously Idol is fixed and every since the top 13 it’s been clear that the judges wanted a Adam vs. Gokey final. Now the folks at EW have a quote from Simon Cowell that proves my point, the Fix is in, there’s no point in even bothering to watch tonight. I’ve always made it clear how much I hate reality television but between crap like The Apprentice and the obvious fixing on Idol, I don’t know why people continue to support “Reality” television.
“I’d love [Adam] in the finale but really with Danny, because Kris is a nice guy, but he’s not a good enough singer to compete with Adam,” said Cowell during an interview broadcast on Fox News’ Fox & Friends morning show on Tuesday. “The only one who can compete with Adam on vocals is Danny.” Here’s the full story.
Also here are the spoilers for the Judges Picks tonight – seem like it’s going to be an awful show –
Kris Allen – Apologize, selected by Randy and Kara
Adam Lambert – U2’s “One” or Chris Isaak’s “Wicked Game” selected by Simon
Danny “Douchebag, No Talent” Gokey – Terence Trent D’Arby’s “Dance Little Sister”, selected by Paula
Our new buds over at Microsoft have given us something really cool to giveaway – An Exclusive Battlestar Galactica branded 16 Gig Zune! This Zune is a pretty sweet little device. I find that I’m liking the Zune software more and more. Originally it was just so different than iTunes – which I really don’t like, just tolerate it because it’s cohesive and easy to use. The audio quality on this Zune blows away my iPod Touch and iPhone, the base on it is pretty thumping. I would actually switch to a Zune in a heartbeat if I wasn’t already so locked into the iTunes/iPod/iPhone ecosystem.
This exclusive Zune comes with ½ of Season 3 and the full final season of Galactica that’s 30 Episodes of Galactica on one little device. You also get one free month of access to the Zune Music Subscription service that will let you download almost 2 million songs for “free,” the service is $15 a month after your free trial. Contrary to popular belief, as the picture shows below, you can run the Zune on a Mac using Parallels.
Contest is simple the contest period will go from May 12, 2009 to June 12, 2009. Leave a comment about
BSG, Music, or why you would want a Zune.
On June 12, 2009 I will select 1 winner at random to receive it.
I would really like to get a minimum of 50 comments (real comments, no spam. Only 1 of your comments will count) before giving it away otherwise I may put it back in the Prize vault. Many of you Non-DC area readers constantly complain about us only having DC Related contests, well here’s your chance to participate.
I used to love Kentucky Friend Chicken but the quality of the chicken has gone completely in the crapper in the last few years. Sometimes you’ll get a round that is slap your mother good, but 6 out of ten times it’s completely unedible. When I heard about the free chicken deal, I was ready to give it a try. But the entire thing was totally ill conceived from the beginning. The first problem was it required the installation of software just to print the coupons, this was done I’m sure to include some sort of DRM so people don’t print up 1,000s of passes. The problem was KFC’s coupon scanner only works with color printers even though a large majority of people use black and white, then of course they also didn’t plan on having a lot of folks show up because they ran out of Chicken. So this entire marketing campaign has been a giant failure. But is that really the case? I mean look at all the buzz (bad buzz, sure) they have gotten from this. And I’m ashamed to say it, but I’m even more curious now to try their stupid grilled chicken.
Food Network star Sandra Lee’s new show, Money Saving Meals, premieres this Sunday, May 10th. I had a chance to chat with Sandra about her current hit series Semi-Homemade and how she’s trying something a little different with her new show, Money Saving Meals. She was also gracious enough to share with me her involvement with the Share Our Strength organization that fights to help feed the over 12 million children in this country that go hungry each and every day.
EclipseMagazine: Sandra, you’re best known for your show Semi-Homemade on the Food Network. Your latest venture, Money Saving Meals, is a new concept. Tell us what Money Saving Meals is all about and how it’s different from Semi-Homemade.
Sandra Lee: When I first did Semi-Homemade, I guess eight years ago now, I wanted to create a brand where the recipes people created would work out. At that time, if you remember eight, nine years ago, Martha Stewart and before her Julia Childs…some of their recipes didn’t work and I thought, “Why is this?”After I went to the Le Cordon Bleu…why is this, I know those recipes work. What I realized was different name brand products have completely different ingredients and components to them and the only way to really ensure that a recipe would turn out is to tell people what name brand you used. Nobody endorsed those recipes, nobody paid to have those recipes created I created them myself and frankly now that I’ve been doing a lot of from scratch recipes…because Money Saving Meals about fifty percent of that show is from scratch, I realized that a Semi-Homemade recipe for the most part is much more involved than from scratch.
Marlene Forte is living proof that success stories can happen to those who put their hearts, minds and fortitude into making them happen. Forte, a Cuban American immigrant, former teenaged mom and self-made business entrepreneur who spent six solid successful years as a video store owner, has turned herself into the female version of a Quentin Tarantino, with an encyclopedic knowledge of films, directors and actors. Both her impressive acting portfolio and her one of a kind story have positioned her as a creative voice and force certainly to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.
With her current TV role as Rosie Hernandez in Tyler Perry’s TBS Sitcom ‘House of Payne’ and her upcoming big screen part in ‘Star Trek XI’, Marlene is living proof that it’s never too late to follow your calling, and her fiery Latin heritage doesn’t even begin to capture the extent of her resilience!
Forte is one of those rare talents whose dedication continues to set a standard in Hollywood. With each character and role she takes on, Marlene Forte is refining a formula of proving Hollywood wrong by continually breaking through Hollywood’s stereotypes and carving a niche for the Latino community and tearing down the walls of “ethnic minorities”.

Supernatural season 4 has been a wild roller coaster ride for fans and viewers alike as Dean and Sam Winchester (Jensen Ackles & Jared Padalecki) have faced some of the toughest challenges of their ‘hunter’ careers: from Dean being pulled out of hell by an angel to take on a mission from God to Sam becoming addicted to the demon blood from which he gains powers to defeat those very same demons. Along for this ride with the Winchester brothers is the Angel Castiel, played by the charming and very talented Misha Collins who recently received his official notice that his character is going to be regular in the upcoming Supernatural season five.
Yet before fans, viewers and actors cross that bridge, there are two more episodes left in season four and they promise to be the wildest part of the ride yet and Eclipse Magazine had a chance to spend ten minutes talking to Misha Collins about his role so far in season four as the angel Castiel.
There was an overwhelming amount of great TV, this year [and, as you’ll see not too much later, an almost equally overwhelming amount of excessively bad TV]. Given the truly amazing amount of quality to be found between the networks and the various cable outlets, I’ve decided to list my favorite fifteen shows of the year.
