Less than halfway into its first season, Syfy’s The Expanse has been renewed for a second season.
Based on the novels of James S.A. Corey, the first season has been following several characters in different places – including Earth, Mars and the asteroid belt – as a hard-boiled police detective in Ceres Station works a missing persons case that could lead either igniting or preventing an interplanetary war.
The Expanse, Syfy and Alcon TV’s new space opera, has added Emmy®-winner/Oscar®-nominee Shohreh Aghdashloo and Magic City alumna Steven Strait in major roles.
Aghdashloo will play Chrisjen Avasarala, a politician who has risen through the ranks of Earth’s governing party without ever standing for election; Strait takes on the role of Holden, an officer on an ice-carrying freighter who finds himself drawn into a dangerous plot. The two join Thomas Jane who plays a world-weary detective who is searching for a missing girl.
The Expanse will premiere in 2015. Follow the jump for further details.
