Lost Blu-ray

I’ve spent the past three – four weeks having weekend Marathons, I’m up to season four watching Disney’s recently release Lost Blu-ray sets. I’m not a huge fan the show, I first discovered it on DVD a few years ago, watched the first season in a single weekend marathon and enjoyed it, but never got around to watching the Season Two DVD set. That’s not to say that I don’t like the show, I do, I just don’t love it. The only way I would put up with a show like this is to watch it in big 8 episode chunks.  Especially season two where I had to put up with Michael screaming Walt! every few minutes. Walt!

I have to say Disney Home Video has done a fantastic job on their recently released Lost Blu-rays, if, for no other reason than their way cool SeasonPlay option that gives you the ability to pick up your viewing where you left off whether you take the disk out or not. One of the things I’ve been complaining about lately is how the Java BD breaks the caching on most Blu-ray players, namely my PS3. Walt!!! Whenever I accidentally hit the stop button (which is frequently) on the PS3′s crappy remote control my place is completely lost and I’m stuck going through 10 minutes of startup crap before I can even fast forward to my last spot.  Well the folks at Disney have figure out a way around this with SeasonPlay.  Walt!!!

Gossip Girl

Our blog partners, the fine folks at TV.com  have a couple of interesting stories going on over at their site today including a look at The Dollhouse ratings tanking. The show ain’t coming back folks.  Check it out here. I don’t watch Lost but the TV.com folks try and answer the 10 questions that are still linguring from the show, here.  And they have this to say about the new Gossip Girl spinoff.

While a new Melrose and The Vampire Diaries are chugging along quite smoothly, Deadline Hollywood is reporting that the ballyhooed Gossip Girl spinoff, featuring a young Lily van der Woodsen (née Rhodes) tromping around 1980s Los Angeles, is “done” as in dead. “Put a fork in it,” said author Nikki Finke, a proven source of inside information.

Whoa, what!? This was a shoo-in for the fall schedule and now it’s done? E! Online has another side of the story, with insiders saying that “nothing is dead,” and everything is still in the race. However, that sounds more like PR spin than any actual scoop. For the record, the CW’s official statement on the situation is “No comment.” Read the full story.

Marlene Chair

Marlene Forte is living proof that success stories can happen to those who put their hearts, minds and fortitude into making them happen. Forte, a Cuban American immigrant, former teenaged mom and self-made business entrepreneur who spent six solid successful years as a video store owner, has turned herself into the female version of a Quentin Tarantino, with an encyclopedic knowledge of films, directors and actors. Both her impressive acting portfolio and her one of a kind story have positioned her as a creative voice and force certainly to be reckoned with in the entertainment industry.

With her current TV role as Rosie Hernandez in Tyler Perry’s TBS Sitcom ‘House of Payne’ and her upcoming big screen part in ‘Star Trek XI’, Marlene is living proof that it’s never too late to follow your calling, and her fiery Latin heritage doesn’t even begin to capture the extent of her resilience!

Forte is one of those rare talents whose dedication continues to set a standard in Hollywood. With each character and role she takes on, Marlene Forte is refining a formula of proving Hollywood wrong by continually breaking through Hollywood’s stereotypes and carving a niche for the Latino community and tearing down the walls of “ethnic minorities”.
