The full premiere episode of Selfie – ABC’s clever update of My Fair Lady, starring Karen Gillan (Doctor Who, Guardians of the Galaxy) and John Cho (Star Trek) – is being made available to Twitter users beginning today. Details follow the jump. (I’ve seen the premiere and it is well worth checking out.)
This evening’s advance screening of Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy was notable for two things: 1 – it is, undeniably, the movie of the summer and 2 – in attendance was a very beautiful, very green young woman who, as I listened, filled her boyfriend in on the complete history of Gamora. After the movie, I asked what she thought and, yes, Guardians of the Galaxy is Gamora approved.
Whenever I see the title of the new film horror flick Oculus, my first thought is always – “Wow, they made a movie about the Virtual Reality Video Game makers, should be interesting.” My second thought is, what is the plural of Oculus? Oculi? I didn’t know what to expect when walking into this movie, but it did star two of my favorite actresses Battlestar Galactica’s Katee Sackhoff and former Doctor Who companion Karen Gillan. How did it go wrong so fast?
When they were kids, Kaylie and Tim Russell had their lives ripped apart by the death of their mother and the murder of their father. Ten years later, Kaylie is obsessed with destroying a an antique mirror she believes responsible for those events, while Tim has just been released from a psychiatric hospital and is determined to see things as they really are – but what if she’s right?
When you’ve spent three season gallivanting around the universe with a Timelord, what could possibly do for an encore? For Doctor Who’s Karen Gillan, it’s obvious – sign up with the madfolk at Adult Swim’s NTSF:SD:SUV:: for its third brain-altering season just in time for the return of The Time Angels!
For the official, seriously chuckleworthy announcement/press release, follow the jump.
Amy and Rory only have two episodes left in their run – but they have clearly been thinking of leaving the TARDIS, as the trailer for this week’s episode of Doctor Who (BBC America, Saturday, 9/8C) shows. Oh, and there’s another twisty menace to be dealt with, as well.
BBC America’s description really says it all: An unmanned spaceship hurtles towards certain destruction — unless the Doctor can save it, and its impossible cargo … of dinosaurs. By his side a ragtag gang of adventurers; a big game hunter, an Egyptian queen and a surprised member of the Pond family. But little does the Doctor know there is someone else onboard who will stop at nothing to keep hold of his precious, prehistoric cargo.
Doctor Who: Dinosaurs On a Spaceship airs on the aforementioned BBC America on Saturday at 9/8C.
The seventh season of the new Doctor Who is just around the corner – kicking off with Asylum of the Daleks on BBC America, September 1st at 9/8C. Check out the teaser for the premiere above.
The first trailer for the new season of Doctor Who, coming soon to BBC America, teased us with bits from upcoming episodes. The new trailer teases us with more (and different) bits – ‘dinosaurs on spaceships!!!’ Check it out.
The BBC’s first trailer for the seventh season of the rebooted Doctor Who is now available for your enjoyment. There’s a pat on the back and a cheery ‘well done’ if you can spot two appearances that harken back to the very first season of the original series back in 19 and 64.
Check out the BBC’s new teaser for the next part of Doctor Who’s sixth season. Doctor Who returns to BBC America on August 27th.
