HBOMax has officially green-lit a Batman Television series that’s set in the same universe as Matt Reeve’s upcoming The Batman. The new show will be focused on Gotham City detectives and will presumably show the day to day lives of regular Gotham in a city that’s also occupied by It’s true and I’m not sure how I feel about this. I feel like I’ve seen this show already, oh yeah, it was called Gotham.
One of the great things about this lockdown is all the opportunities the general public get to view a lot of panels and events that you previously had to attend to see. While we won’t be getting Comic Con this year, the folks behind Comic Con are doing Comic-Con@Home events. Warner Brothers virtual slate includes the cast of His Dark Materials (after a slow start S1 grew on me), Lovecraft Country, American dad and more. The only thing I question is why have this now when they are going to have their own Fandome event August 22? Check out the full slate.
Out of everything WarnerMedia could have called their new service, HBOMax seems pretty lame to me. I would have preferred something like WBMax, WBDemand, I don’t know, but HBOMax? We already have HBOGo, HBO Now, and DC Universe. According to someone I spoke with at Warner Brothers, DC Universe is staying put. But HBOMax is going to launch next Spring with over 10,000 Hours of content including Friends, Fresh Prince of Bel Air, a Robust Slate of New Originals, and Programming from Warner Bros., New Line, DC Entertainment, CNN, TNT, TBS, truTV, The CW, Turner Classic Movies, Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Crunchyroll, Rooster Teeth, Looney Tunes and More at a rumored price of $16 or $17.
