BBC America Co-Producing Anthology Series Responding To 50th Anniversary of The UK’s The Sexual Offences Act!

BBC America will co-produce Queers, a series of eight short films in which eight established writers respond to the 50th Anniversary of The Sexual Offences Act – which partially decriminalized homosexual acts between men in the UK.

Curated and directed by Mark Gatiss (Sherlock), the films star award winners Alan Cumming, Ben Whishaw, Rebecca Front, Russell Tovey, Gemma Whelan, Ian Gelder, Kadiff Kirwan and Fionn Whitehead. The series will premiere on October 14th at 10/9c.

SDCC 2017: Two of ‘The Original, You Might Say’ Trailer: Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time!

While the BBC was making history by naming the first female Doctor, the current showrunner was heading a trip to San Diego Comic-Con 2017 – where he presented the first teaser for the 2017 Doctor Who Christmas Special, Twice Upon a Time.

The teaser reunites the Doctor with Bill Potts and features a unique event with the first and twelfth Doctors teaming up.

Doctor Who: Twice Upon a Time will premiere on December 25th, of course.

Doctor Who: 13th Doctor Is a Woman! (Hooray!)

Jodie Whittaker is the new Doctor as new Doctor Who showrunner Chris Chibnall follows former showrunner Steven Moffat’s introduction of a female Master with an even bigger genderbender – and it’s about time (I hear many of you say)!

Whittaker might be best known on this side of the pond for her roles in Broadchurch and the Emmy Award-winning Black Mirror.

Doctor Who, Dirk Gently Take Over Ballroom H at San Diego Comic-Con 2017!

On Sunday, July 23rd, Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency and Doctor Who invade Hall H at San Diego Comic-Con for a two-hour block of panels.

The Dirk Gently panel will mark the show’s Hall H debut, while the Doctor Who panel will be Peter Capaldi’s last as The Doctor.

San Diego Comic-Con 2017 takes place at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, California, during the weekend of July 19 – July 23.

BBC America Announces Second Lead in Dark Thriller Killing Eve!

Jodie Comer (Thirteen, The White Queen) has been cast in Killing Eve – the new thriller from Fleabag creator, Phoebe Waller-Bridge – opposite Sandra Oh.

Commer will talented killer Villanelle who comes into conflict with deskbound spy wannabe Eve (Oh, Grey’s Anatomy, Catfight).

Killing Eve will debut in 2018.

Broadchurch Returns For Final Season With Sexual Assault Case!

It’s been three years since the last time we visited Broadchurch. Both Detective Inspector Alec Hardy and Detective Sergeant Ellie Miller are back on the team at Broadchruch CID after some hopefully recuperative time away when a local woman is sexually assaulted.

Evidence suggests this was not an opportunistic attack; it was planned.

DI Hardy and DS Miller must catch the person responsible or there could well be more such attacks.

BBC America, Annapurna Television and Elisabeth Developing Fever Mini-Series!

Elisabeth Moss is developing, with BBC America and Annapurna Television, a mini-series based on  Mary Beth Keane’s novel, Fever.

The novel tells the story of Typhoid Mary, the first healthy carrier of typhoid fever – and how  she spread typhoid across the burgeoning metropolis of early twentieth century New York.

Moss will star and executive produce.
