BBC America Greenlights Blue Planet II!

BBC America has greenlighted Blue Planet II – ‘the next chapter in the epic story of our planet.’ The seven-part series will be presented by Sir David Attenborough.

Tom McDonald, Head of Commissioning, Natural History and Specialist Factual, said: “Blue Planet II promises to combine the exceptional craftsmanship that our audiences have come to expect from BBC Natural History with genuinely new revelations about the creatures and habitats of the world’s oceans. I have no doubt it will thrill and delight the audience; and deliver a new benchmark in Natural History filmmaking.”

BBC America To Broadcast The 2017 Brit Awards!

BBC America will be the exclusive broadcaster for the 2017 Brit Awards – the awards  that celebrate United Kingdom chart and commercial success.

This year, David Bowie has received two posthumous nominations – British Male Solo Artist and Mastercard album of the Year. Leonard Cohen received his first nomination, for International Male Solo Artist.

Ed Sheeran, Bruno Mars, Little Mix, The 1975, Emeli Sandé, Skepta and Robbie Williams will be the featured performers.

The 2017 Brit Awards,  hosted by  Dermot O’Leary and Emma Willis, will be broadcast on Wednesday, February 22nd (10/9C) – the same day as in the UK.

Final Season Premiere Date for Orphan Black Announced!

Planet II To Be Simulcast across BBC America, AMC and SundanceTV!

The premiere of Planet Earth II – the follow up to Planet Earth docuseries celebrating the Earth and its creatures – will be simulcast across BBC America, AMC and SundanceTV.

Planet Eart II will premiere on Saturday, February 18 (9/8C). the remaining five episodes will air exclusively on BBC America. Details follow the break.

BBC America’s Planet Earth II Moves To February!

A decade after the ground breaking natural history docuseries Planet Earth, technology and mobility have advanced so far that the makers of follow-up series Planet Earth II can go to places that were previously unreachable.

Over three years in the making, in 40 different countries, on 117 filming trips and a total of 2089 shooting days, BBCA’s Planet Earth II brings a whole new view of our planet.

Originally slated for a January 28th premiere, Planet Earth II will now premiere on BBC America on Saturday, February 18th.

Planet Earth II, narrated by Sir David Attenborough, will premiere Saturday, February 18 on BBC AMERICA, the US home of the BBC’s landmark natural history series. A decade on from the ground breaking natural history series Planet Earth, we’re able to go further, get closer and capture behavior and places that would have been impossible 10 years ago. Sherlock: The Final Problem Gets Two Night Theatrical Release!

Following its television premiere, Sherlock: The Final Problem – the show’s season four finale – will get a two-night theatrical release with exclusive bonus content.

The theatrical event will come from the partnership of BBC Worldwide and Fathom Events. Screenings will take place on Monday, January 16th and Wednesday, January 18th.

Doctor Who: Power of the Daleks – What Was Once Lost Has Been Found and It is Good!

Doctor Who: Power of the Daleks marked the shift from the cranky grandpa Doctor of William Hartnell to the recorder playing, slightly sillier Patrick Troughton Doctor. Sillier but not less intelligent and resourceful, this was a Doctor who talked to himself and used playing his recorder to help him think.

Power of the Daleks is considered to be one of the classic serials of the original series – one which showed the Daleks at their sneakiest and most dangerous. It’s also one of the serials lost in an ill-advised erasure of tapes by the BBC.

Now it’s been reconstructed from an audio tape recorded by a fan, along with some remaining clips and set photos and animated – in glorious black and white – and it’s good fun.
