A Roddenberry will give CBS Access’ Star Trek reboot a direct link to The Great Bird of the Galaxy. The son of Trek creator Gene Roddenberry (above, with Rod) and Roddenberry Entertainment President Rod Roddenberry has joined the Star Trek team as an executive producer – along with his company’s COO Trevor Roth.

The CBS Television Studios-Produced Series Will Be Distributed in the U.S. on CBS All Access

STUDIO CITY, CALIF. – March 3, 2016 – Roddenberry Entertainment President Rod Roddenberry, son of the late “Star Trek” creator Gene Roddenberry, and COO Trevor Roth, join the new “Star Trek” television series as executive producers, joining Alex Kurtzman, Heather Kadin and Bryan Fuller, who was previously announced as the new series showrunner.

The new series will launch with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network in early 2017. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service. The new “Star Trek” series marks the first original series developed for CBS All Access.
The next chapter in the “Star Trek” franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of “Star Trek,” one of the most successful entertainment franchises of all time. The original “Star Trek” spawned a dozen feature films and five successful television series. Half a century later, the “Star Trek” television series are licensed on a variety of different platforms in more than 190 countries, and the franchise still generates more than 1 billion social media impressions every month.
Roddenberry Entertainment, the production company Gene Roddenberry created in 1967 will also co-produce the new “Star Trek” television series alongside CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout and Living Dead Guy Productions.
