Old Dogs doesn’t Show any Blu-ray Tricks. Michelle’s Blu-ray Review

All reviewers have their secret shames, genres they like even though they shouldn’t. My shame is I’m a sucker for cutesy “family” movies. There is absolutely no reason for me to like Old Dogs, it’s formulaic, cheesy, badly acted, but I think it has some heart and is kind of cute. The movie is, what it is and at 90 minutes it’s mercifully short. I can see why John Travolta and Robin Williams picked this material – it’s safe and something their kids could watch and a cheap way for John Travolta to get his daughter Ela work. I like their interaction with the two kids they find themselves saddled with. I still hate Seth Green though. This is definitely a movie you watch at home when you have absolutely nothing else better to do.

Comments

Old Dogs is only for the Disney Diehard, it’s perfectly harmless and shallow. I used to rave about the Blu-ray Combo package, but now I’m on the fence, I don’t know if like keeping up with all of these additional discs. The menu navigation is clunky and the features are really thin. If you have a family who likes harmless Disney fare, this isn’t a bad addition to the collection everyone else should stay away.
