On July 21, 2009 Warner Brothers Home Entertainment is releasing the Complete second season of Pushing Daisies.
Pushing Daisies, which debut in the fall 2007 television line up, told the story of Ned {Lee Pace), a young man with a very special gift. As a boy, Ned discovered that he could return the dead briefly back to life with just one touch. Now a pie maker, Ned puts his ability to good use, not only touching dead fruit and making it ripe with everlasting flavor, but working with Emerson Cod (Chi McBride) in a private investigating practice to crack murder cases by raising the dead and getting them to name their killers. Things get totally complicated when Ned brings his childhood sweetheart, Charlotte ‘Chuck’ Charles (Anna Friel), back from the dead — and keeps her alive. Life would be perfect for Ned and Chuck, except for one cruel twist: If he ever touches her again, she’ll go back to being dead, this time for good.
The first season pilot episode of Pushing Daisies, Pie-lette, scored high marks with television critics and viewers alike with it’s unique and quirky premise. The Emmy Award winning series quickly became a hit for creator Brad Fuller and Warner Brothers to the extent that it was renewed for a second season by the ABC network.
The second season of Pushing Daisies continued to provide the viewing audience with well written, entertaining storylines that included such notable guest stars as Diana Scarwid, Wendy Malick, David Arquette and Fred Willard. Unfortunately, Pushing Daisies only lasted two seasons before coming to cancellation earlier this year with the final episode titled Kerplunk. The episode tied up a lot of loose ends and for the most part fans found it to be a satisfying round up of the series but still enough of a lead in to a movie that there could still be hope of more to come.
The Warner Brothers Home Entertainment release of the complete second season of Pushing Daises will give fans and viewers alike a chance to enjoy the episodes commercial free and in crystal clear DVD quality. The DVD set not only contains all 13 of episodes of the series but also has such entertaining and informative special features as:
The Master Piemaker: Inside the mind of Creator Bryan Fuller
From Oven to Table: Crafting a Script Idea into Reality
Secret Sweet ingredients: Spotlight on Composer Jim Dooley’s Work
Add a Little Magic: Executing Some Giant Sized Visual Effects.
