BBC America’s acclaimed miniseries In The flesh set up a unique take on the zombie apocalypse, what with its cure for what it came to call Partially Deceased Syndrome, or PDS. The story, which centered on would-be suicide Kieran Walker concluded with a very tentative peace between the live and PDS inhabitants of his small hometown of Roarton.
In The Flesh returns to find with Kieran working to increase and escape fund to allow him to leave Roarton for the Paris even as a radical political party, the Pro-Living Party, Victus is gaining seats in the government – which, in turn, sparks the rise of the Undead Liberation Army and PDS terrorism. Season Two of In The Flesh premieres on Saturday, May 10 (10/9C). Follow the jump to the press release for more details.
BBC AMERICA ANNOUNCES ACCLAIMED ZOMBIE MINI-SERIES, IN THE FLESH, RETURNS MAY 10
BBC AMERICA’s critically acclaimed zombie mini-series, In The Flesh, returns for a second season, Saturday, May 10, 10:00pm ET/PT. Creator, Dominic Mitchell, reignites the world of teenager Kieren Walker (Luke Newberry), a PDS (Partially Deceased Syndrome) sufferer who continues in his struggle to find acceptance. The six-parter is a BBC AMERICA co-production with BBC Drama Production North.
In the cauldron of Roarton, where the living and the undead have reached a fragile peace, Kieren is desperately keeping his head down and squirreling money into his ‘escape fund’ for Paris. But in the wider world, fear is in the air. The radical Pro-Living Party, Victus, is gaining government seats with a resulting spate of PDS Terrorism linked to the Undead Liberation Army (ULA). With the arrival of new and explosive characters from both Victus and the ULA, Kieren’s plans are thrown into disarray as both set their sights on him. He’ll find himself caught in the emotional crossfire, making his desire for a quiet life an unrealistic option.
Luke Newberry (The Legend Hercules) reprises his role as Kieren Walker and leads the cast together with Emily Bevan (The Thick of It) as Amy Driver, Harriet Cains (Doctors) as Jem Walker, Stephen Thompson (Doctors) as Philip Wilson, Kenneth Cranham (Maleficent) as Vicar Oddie, Kevin Sutton (Shameless) as Gary, Steve Cooper as Steve Walker, Marie Critchley as Sue Walker, Sandra Hugget as Shirley Wilson, Gerard Thompson as Dean and Gillian Waugh as Pearl Pinder. They are joined by new cast members, Wunmi Mosaku (Dancing on the Edge, I am Slave) playing local MP Maxine Martin and Emmett J Scanlan (The Fall, Hollyoaks) who plays charismatic disciple of the Undead Prophet, Simon.
