Time to set the DVR. Ubisoft announced today that the complete “Assassin’s Creed: Lineage” short film will air for the first time in its entirety in high-definition on Spike TV on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at midnight.
“As Ubisoft begins to expand into other mediums beyond games, we are excited to be working so closely with our valued partners at Viacom to debut this new story in the Assassin’s Creed universe exclusively on Spike TV,” said Tony Key, senior vice president of sales and marketing at Ubisoft. “Spike has long been a leader in supporting our industry with excellent editorial programming, so it was a natural choice to team up with them for the U.S. public unveiling of this revolutionary new short film.”
The first of the three episodes of “Assassin’s Creed: Lineage” made its debut on YouTube on Oct. 27, and received praise from viewers. The episode was the most watched video on YouTube that day with more than 1.7 million views worldwide in a 24 hour period and it was also the most commented video of the day.
Developed by Ubisoft’s Hybride Technologies, the visual effects studio behind 300 and Sin City, Assassin’s Creed: Lineage combines live action and computer generated imagery (CGI) to explore the events that happen just before the Assassin’s Creed II game begins. The short film revolves around Ezio’s father, Giovanni Auditore da Firenze, and it provides insight on the game’s back story and universe.
