Maurice Gibb, of the Bee Gees, suffered cardiac arrest before undergoing emergency surgery for a blocked intestine, a hospital spokeswoman said today.
The 53-year-old performer was in a critical but stable condition, she said.
Gibb was being treated in intensive care after being stricken at his Miami home with intense stomach pains on Wednesday, said Mount Sinai Medical Centre spokeswoman Kathleen Dorkowski.
“Maurice has undergone surgery for an intestinal blockage. He is in a critical condition in intensive care. We are awaiting a full medical prognosis . . . but everyone is very, very worried,” a spokesman for his twin brother, Robin, said.
