New York Comic Con Day 1 & 2 Recap

Well kids it has been a wild and crazy ride! The first two days of New York Comic Con have been a whorl wind of excitement and running around like a chicken with it’s head cut off! lol But seriously folks I’ve had a chance to chat with the stars of some of your favorite shows and you wont be disappointed!

I started my day being thankful I got my press badge and didn’t have to wait in line because that is a nightmare. My first tip is to purchase your tickets early if possible because NYCC will mail them to you and it is worth it. My second tip is to bring your own provisions like water and snacks because lines and costs are outrageous. Once I got inside of course I got lost trying to find the press area but saw some great costumes and displays.

First up was actually an offsite interview withe the cast and director of the upcoming movie Young Ones starring Nicholas Hoult and Elle Fanning, directed by Jake Paltrow. It’s a modern day western set in a not too distant future with a world caught in a serious draught and water is a high priced commodity. The movie is a darker more grown up role for Elle Fanning who is really coming into her own as an actress and a grittier role for Hoult who’s character Flem is one of questionable intentions.

Next up was Adam West. It’s rare in this business to have the opportunity to sit down with a TV legend but for this kid it’s come true. I had the great privledge to talk to the one and only Adam West! Yes, TV’s Batman from 1966 – 1968. Adam is here at NYCC to promote the complete box set of Batman. Warner Brothers is debuting the highly anticipated DVD/Blu-ray collection of the cult classic 1960’s TV series which goes on sale November 11.

Day two began with the cast of SyFy’s latest hit Bitten. The wolf pack was a fun cast to chat with. They stayed pretty tight lipped about what is to come in Season 2 but did divulge that a few new characters including some more women will be heading to Stonehaven in the form of some witches. They promise more action, carnage and of course sexy wolves. Season 2 picks up just a few days after the end of Season 1 in Stonehaven but you will have to wait until 2015 to see what happens next.

Right after Bitten I ran over to speak with the guys of Comic Book Men. It’s always fun to get a chance to chat with Kevin Smith about any topic. I had the opportunity to sit down with him and the rest of the wacky crew from AMC’s Comic Book Men to discuss their new season premiering this weekend. We also discussed how having Kevin’s daughter in both an episode of Comic Book Men and his new movie Tusk has effected him. Be sure to catch the new season of Comic Book Men on AMC October 12, at Midnight!

Next was the Once Upon a Time panel with actress Jennifer Morrison and creators Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis. I was shocked how packed this panel was to be honest. I was luck enough to get into this one but just barely. The panel before this one was not cleared out so half the seats were still full and only a handful of new people were able to get in. The lucky few got to see a early screening of Sunday’s episode where we find out just who the Snow Queen, played by Lost alumn Elizabeth Mitchell, is and who she’s related to. Yes, this entire cast is connected in one way or another.

We also discover why Emma is pushing Hook away and a sweet moment between Regina and Henry where she comes clean as to her plan to find the author of his book to strongly suggest they write her a happy ending. To Regina’s surprise Henry is all for it and Operation Mongoose is born! Regina also gets a call from Robin to help save Marian who has been curse by the Snow Queen and is slowly freezing to death. True loves kiss doesn’t seem to work because Robin’s heart belongs to Regina so the only thing to be done is for Regina to take out Marian’s heart and she does it in the typical badass Regina way…while Marian is mostly frozen solid. Not gonna lie, it was rad.

The End of day two of New York Comic Con brought those wacky characters of Archer. I just have to say right off the bat the Aisha Tyler is amazing! I totally called her show The View instead of The Chew which I new was going to happen and tried to remind myself a thousand times not to do but of course that’s exactly what happened. She was gracious and funny and made me feel less of an idiot for doing so. We got to chat about her character and Archer’s baby in the latest season, how her career is going like gangbusters right now and the what it takes to be a consistent working actor these days. Judy Greer, Chris Parnell and Christian Slater to round out the Archer interviews and are both hilarious and fun.
