Release Will Feature All 13 Season Two Episodes Plus Bonus Content
ATLANTA (April 14, 2016) – When a deadly pandemic threatens to wipe out humanity, it’s up to Navy Captain Tom Chandler (Eric Dane, Grey’s Anatomy) and his crew to save the human race in season two of The Last Ship, TNT’s (a division of Turner) hit action-packed drama available on Blu-ray™ and DVD May 3, 2016.
Titled The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season, this must-own release will feature 13 high-action episodes from the series’ thrilling second season plus never-before-seen extras, including featurettes, and an exclusive look at the making of season 2. During season two, The Last Ship, ranked as one of s cable’s most-watched primetime dramas on Sunday among adults in all key demos including adults 18-49 and averaged more than 8.2 million viewers per episode across TNT’s television, VOD, digital and mobile platforms. Since its debut, the series has quickly built a devoted viewer following and has rapidly established itself as a fan favorite. This release will be available in advance of the season three premiere of The Last Ship June 12 on TNT. Based on William Brinkley’s popular novel, The Last Ship chronicles a global catastrophe that nearly decimates the world’s population. Because of its positioning, the Navy destroyer U.S.S. Nathan James avoided falling victim to the devastating tragedy. But now, Captain Tom Chandler (series star Eric Dane) and his crew must confront the reality of their new existence in a world where they may be among the few remaining survivors. The Last Ship stars Eric Dane (Grey’s Anatomy), Rhona Mitra, (Strike Back) Adam Baldwin (Firefly, Chuck), Charles Parnell (Pariah), Travis Van Winkle (Heart of Dixie), Marissa Neitling (Leverage), Christina Elmore (Fruitvale Station), Jocko Sims (Masters of Sex) and John Pyper-Ferguson (Unforgiven).
The Last Ship is produced by Channel Road Productions, TNT Originals and Platinum Dunes, along with its partners, blockbuster filmmaker Michael Bay (Black Sails, Transformers), Brad Fuller (Black Sails) and Andrew Form (Black Sails), who are the series’ executive producers. Co-creators and showrunners Hank Steinberg (creator of Without a Trace, The Nine) and Steven Kane (The Closer) also serve as executive producers, along with Jack Bender (Lost).
On The Last Ship: The Complete Second Season, Captain Chandler and the rest of the crew set out to disseminate the cure for the Red Virus, which paleo microbiologist Dr. Rachel Scott developed. As they head back to U.S. soil to seek survivors and find their families, they encounter a new, emerging enemy who is vying for control and may hinder the mass production of the cure.
The Last Ship ranked as basic cable’s #1 new series in 2014 with total viewers and adults 25-54. The show reached an average of 14.5 million viewers across TNT’s linear, on-demand, digital and mobile platforms when it premiered. Over 40 million adults 18+ tuned-in to watch the show’s second season. During season two, The Last Ship ranked as the #1 drama program on Sundays in primetime among adults 18+, adults 18-49, adults 18-54, men 18+, men 18-49, men 18-54, women 18-49, and women 18-54. The series originally premiered on TNT in June 2014.
