It’s never too late to reclaim your life…
After 30 years as a wife and mother, an empty-nester retreats to Cape Cod rather than follow her relocated husband to Kansas. Intent to rediscover herself but plagued with guilt, she questions her decision until stumbling upon a spirited mentor. Supported by her literary agent and a host of locals, including a sexy fisherman, our heroine learns to embrace the ebb and flow of life—ultimately discovering the balance between self and sacrifice, obligation and desire.
The magnificent Cape Cod National Seashore, whose turning tides unveil the pleasure of life’s natural rhythms and enable Karen to access her true nature, reinforces the message that no matter our age, we can change in meaningful ways, experience new adventures and find happiness.
Based on the New York Times Best-selling novel by Joan Anderson, the film adaptation has won numerous festival awards and international accolades.
Q&A with Writer/Director/Composer Alexander Janko following the screening!

Few people know his name… yet hundreds of millions of people are alive because of him.
On September 26, 1983, the Soviet early warning satellite system reported that American missiles were heading their way. But Stanislov Petrov, the duty officer that night, correctly suspected that the system was malfunctioning and convinced his superiors to delay a counter attack until further confirmation, thus saving the world from nuclear Armageddon. This gripping true story of the man who single-handedly averted a nuclear world war mixes fact and fiction by intertwining historical re-enactments with real life footage of Petrov as he tries to get his life back on track.
Special Q&A following the screening with Executive Producers: Raphael Avigdor, Christian D. Bruun and Mark Romeo!

About the Gold Coast Film Festival:
Located on the “Gold Coast” in the Town of North Hempstead, the Gold Coast International Film Festival was founded with the purpose of establishing a home on Long Island to showcase the work of exceptional filmmakers and provide the public with an insider’s view of the film industry. Festival events include screenings, workshops, conversations with prominent members of the film community, special events and parties.
During the annual seven-day festival, area residents, visitors, members of the business and film communities, public officials, students and academics come together to celebrate the art and influence of cinema in the charming and historic towns and villages of Long Island’s Gold Coast. In addition to the Fall festival, GCIFF also presents dozens of preview screenings and filmmaker Q&As throughout the year at their year-round Furman and Douglas Elliman Film Series.
The Gold Coast is just a short ride from New York City, and is easily accessible by car, train and the area’s three major airports: John F. Kennedy International, LaGuardia, and MacArthur.
