One of the most hotly anticipated new series from the CW is The Vampire Diaries, which will be the new lead in for the venerable, but still hot hit CW series Supernatural now headed into its 5th season and stars Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles as the monster hunting, demon fighting Winchester brothers Sam and Dean.

With the "Twilight" phenomenon still going strong and HBO’s True Blood making good on the cable network this summer, it was only a matter of time before the CW decided to adapt the cult-classic books The Vampire Diaries into a TV show.

The Vampire Diaries, which will air on the CW Network at 8 PM EST on Thursday nights, sets the tone for a night of television with a brotherly theme and tells the story of Elena (Nina Dobrev) a young girl torn between two vampire brothers, Damon (Ian Somerhalder) and Stefan (Paul Wesley).

Here is an extended preview of The Vampire Diaries provided by the CW Network.

The CW is also set to launch the updated version of the 1990’s series, Melrose Place this fall which will star Supernatural alumni Katie Cassidy as Elle Simms, who looks a whole lot like her 1990’s counterpart Heather Locklear who played vixen Amanda Woodward. The series also stars Michael Rady as Jonah Miller, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz as Violet Foster and Thomas Calabro who will be reprising his role of Dr. Michael Mancini from the original series.

Lying, cheating, stealing, seduction, backstabbing, betrayal, murder… it’s just another day at Melrose Place as new generation of young professionals living at the infamous complex deal with obtaining their own personal goals, drives, and desires.
