One of the CW Network’s longest running and most successful reality series, America’s Next Top Model is set to premiere its 12th cycle on Wednesday March 4th at 8Pm EST and competition is for goddesses only.
America’s next Top Model was created and is hosted by Tyra Banks who herself is a former super model. Banks also serves as the head judge and executive producer of the show, which first premiered on the now defunct UPN Network in May 2003 and was one of their highest rated shows. In its 7th cycle, America’s Next Top Model found themselves to one of the the first of the shows among regular programming on UPN’s successor, The CW and has continued to be the network’s highest rated series.
In this very first episode of cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model,Tyra Banks AKA the Goddess of Fierce, takes 34 beautiful and diverse finalist to the gambling capital of the USA: Las Vegas, Nevada to show her how much they want to be a goddess of modeling as well.
Once in Vegas, the girls hook up with runway coach J. Alexander and Photo shoot director Jay Manuel who guide the finalist in their preparation to be judged by Tyra Banks on looks, personality and determination to become America’s Next Top Model. The 34 finalist for this first episode of cycle 12, who come from all over the country, are not just a group of pretty faces and perfect bodies. They include Kortnie a plus sized model and Tahlia who suffered severe burns over most of her lower body and legs.
Over the course of several days in which episode one takes place, these 34 beautiful and graceful women strive to bring out their ‘inner goddess’ as they strike poses, show how they can ‘walk on clouds’ and how they interact with each other. Yet there is only 13 spots available at the end of this first round and only Tyra has the final say. Competition for those 13 top spots brings out the deepest fears, strongest desires to win and puts several of the aspiring models on an emotional edge that brings hostility to the surface. There is no doubt that each and every one of these girls takes her determination to be the next top model very seriously.
