Washington DC’S National Theater Getting in on Hamilton Action

National_Theater

This is going to be a total cluster. In order to even hope to get tickets to Hamilton over a Year away, you pretty much have to subscribe to The Kennedy Center’s Broadway Subscription for the next 2 seasons. That’s several thousand dollars just to see this stupid show. Now to muddle the waters even further.

The seven-time Tony Award-winning Evita has returned to The Kennedy Center in an extended engagement running Sept 30 – Oct. 19. For some reason I’ve never had a particular desire to see this, nor listen the the soundtrack, and that includes the 1996 movie starring Madonna and Antonio Banderas. But given a musical directed by Tony and Olivier Award winner Michael Grandage and choreographed by Tony Award winner Rob Ashford, with lyrics by the great Tim Rice and music by the even greater Andrew Lloyd Webber, it’s time that I cross this show off my musical bucket list.

When you hear the name William Shatner the first thing that comes to mind is probably Star Trek and with good reason. The iconic TV series has a cult following that has stood the test of time and William Shatner’s Captain Kirk has played a large part in the franchises continued success. But what you don’t know is that beyond the galaxy of (haha yes I went there) of Shatner’s science fiction superstar dome is a world of comedy, theater and lifetime of stories you may just be surprised to discover.

In his latest adventure, William Shatner has returned to his theater roots to star in a one-man show named “Shatner’s World” where he recounts his career in entertainment from his days in theater to Star Trek and beyond. It’s an entertaining, funny and surprisingly poignant look into the life and times of one of America’s most icon entertainers.

I recently had the chance to chat with Mr. Shatner about “Shatner’s World”. Take a peak at this wild ride just after the jump.

“Shatner’s World” hits 700 theaters across the U.S. Thursday, April 24th. Check http://shatnersworld.com for times and locations in your area!

Michelle has a Fun, but Odd Night Out at Grease! Features Taylor Hicks and Ace Young!

Grease is the word, that I heard, it’s got a move, it’s got a groove….After being snowed in for 5 days, I was itching to get out of the house. My first post Snowpocalypse event was taking in an odd, but stellar performance of Grease at The National Theater here in Washington, DC. I didn’t even know Grease was still on Broadway, but it is and apparently is still a hit. DC Audiences usually aren’t the most rowdy bunch, perhaps it was being cooped up or the power of the two American Idols – Taylor Hicks and Ace Young, not only was it a packed, nearly full house, but the audience was hot.
