Priest Tyaire Productions today announced the release of its latest hit stage play “Mrs. Independent” featuring celebrity cast members Robin Givens of “Boomerang” and “Fresh Prince of Bel Air”; Shirley Murdock known for the hit song “I Can’t Go On Without You”; and, Christopher Williams known for the hit song “Don’t Wake Me I’m Dreamin”. This highly anticipated production is scheduled to take place in DC at the Warner Theatre during Mother’s Day Weekend – May 8th thru 11th – and is sure to have audiences on the edge of their seats, while also leaving them with a message of hope and encouragement.

“Mrs. Independent”, written, directed and produced by Priest Tyaire, takes audiences on a riveting, yet thought-provoking journey of exploring questions like – Can a woman still love her husband if she is the primary breadwinner? Will the roles reverse with her wearing the pants while he ultimately works to honor her every demand? But, what if he is a good man that’s faithful and does actually contribute to the household? Is it possible that true love, affection and Godly integrity can be restored to the marriage?

“I am really excited about bringing “Mrs. Independent”to DC during Mother’s Day weekend because it was actually the influence of my own mom that encouraged me to become a playwright in the first place,” said Priest Tyaire, Founder, Writer, Actor and Producer for Priest Tyaire Productions. “My mom actually took me to my first play as a kid. So, when I discovered that my mom had a major illness back in 2007, I wanted to use playwriting as a way to honor her life. Regrettably, she passed away just two weeks before my first play ‘The Tears of a Teenage Mother’ which had a sold out audience. So, in many ways, when people bring their moms to see my play in DC, they will also be honoring the life and legacy of my own mom.”

In “Mrs. Independent”, Priest Tyaire and Robin Givens take on the leading roles. While Trey (Priest Tyaire), maintains an honest and respectable salary of $40,000 a year as a head mechanic, his wife, Carleena (Robin Givens), climbs the corporate ladder as an attorney and advances to a six figure salary. This creates not only a financial imbalance but also raises a question of Trey’s intellectual compatibility in Carleena’s mind and pushes their once equally yoked marriage further off course. With such a significant gap in their salaries, it becomes increasingly impossible for Trey to satisfy his wife and this leads to a downward spiral of emotional and spiritual conflicts in their relationship. However, ultimately, audiences will need to attend the play in order to see how “redemption for all” takes place in the end.
