Green Trailer: The Jungle Book!

Disney’s live-action The Jungle Book has a spiffy new teaser trailer – giving us a look at the world in which Mowgli thrives. We get first looks at some of the boy’s friends and enemies – Baloo, Shere Khan, Kaa, Bagheera and King Louis.

Take a peek at Rudyard Kipling’s famous characters as imagined by writer Justin Mark and director Jon Favreau following the jump. The Jungle Book will be in theaters on April 15, 2016.

I Say Hello You Say Goodbye Trailer: Aloha!

Aloha - Cooper, Stone

A romantic comedy about a military contractor, his ex and the Air Force watchdog assigned to keep him out of trouble? Nope, it’s not based on a Nicholas Sparks novel (though it does star a few alumni of Sparks-based movies).

Aloha was written and directed by Cameron Crowe. The cast includes Bradley Cooper, Rachel McAdams, Emma Stone, Danny McBride, Alec Baldwin, Bill Murray and John Krasinski. Check out the trailer after the jump – it looks like it deserves its A-list cast.

Aloha opens May 29th.

Early Academy Award Contenders: The Best Films of the Toronto Film Festival 2014

Over the past week, Toronto has been hosting its annual film festival, commonly known as TIFF. Such highlights from years past include Slumdog Millionaire, The King’s Speech, Silver Linings Playbook, and 12 Years a Slave, all of which went on to win Academy Awards. This years’ standouts may prove no different as viewers and critics raved about several performances and several films. This week on GeekScholars Movie News, the crew reviews the films from the 2014 Toronto Film Festival you won’t want to miss when they come to theaters.

Disney Looks To Murray for the Bear Necessities!


Amidst the high-powered signings of the likes of Christopher Walken, Scarlett Johannson, Lupita Nyong’o and Ben Kingsley to voice beloved characters of Disney’s The Jungle Book, it became apparent that a certain lovable, bumbling, kind-hearted bear had yet to be cast.

Now the movie has its Baloo and that it is Bill Murray makes perfect sense.

The official announcement came down from Disney this morning. The hybrid live-action/animated Disney’s The Jungle Book will premiere on October 9, 2015.

Theatrical Re-Release, Special Edition Blu-Rays for Ghostbusters’ 30th Anniversary!


Thirty years ago, ‘Who you gonna call?’ became something of a buzzword thanks to Ivan Reitman’s horror-comedy, Ghostbusters. To celebrate its 30th Anniversary, Ghostbusters is getting a theatrical re-release in over 700 locations in Canada and the U.S for a limited engagement starting on August 29th – the beginning of the Labor Day Weekend.

Following its theatrical run, Ghostbusters, and Ghostbusters II (25th Anniversary) will get Special Edition Blue-Ray sets – and there will be a special, Limited Edition (pictured above) that will include both Special Edition sets plus a Slimer figure. Both films have been remastered in 4K and the Blu-Ray sets will be made from those 4K sources. For details, check out the press release following the jump.
