Dino De Laurentiis produced more than 500 films over his 70 year career. While he was best known in North America for films like Serpico and the camp classic Flash Gordon, he also produced films by Federico Fellini and Robert Rossellini – his first Oscar® coming for Fellini’s La Strada in 1956. He was honored with the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award in 2001 for showing a ‘consistently high quality of motion picture production.’ He received more than thirty other Oscar® nominations, as well.
