It’s official, the Oscar people have lost their mind. Ok, so this year was a wide open field, I still say Sideways if overrated, but it’s no surprise that the movie received nominations in almost every major category. Aviator leads the pack with 11 nominations. The best picture noms are ok, I was surprised to see Jamie Foxx get nominated twice. This year could be called the year of the African Americans. Black folk are finally getting recognized by the Academy. Usually there’s no African Americans nominated, or if there is, it’s only one and that’s Denzel.
This year they really spread it around. Maybe Hollywood isn’t as racist and out of touch as they used to be. A shocker was Natalie Portman getting a supporting actress nomination for “”Closer”” and not “”Garden State,”” which she was better in.
