After a disastrous start in Hollywood as an actress in the doomed Godfather III film, Sofia Coppola has found her calling and is following in her famed father, Francis Ford Coppola’s footsteps, by becoming an accomplished director, writer, and producer in her own right. Her first independent film, the effective and PKotional “”Virgin Suicides,”” garnered critical acclaim and established her “”directorial voice.”” She follows that film up with her upcoming “”Lost In The Translation.”” This film can best be described as a combination love letter to Japan and Bill Murray’s “”Punch Drunk Love.””
