“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” This is a familiar phrase that Days Of Our Lives soap fans around the world know quite well. This NBC daytime soap opera is one of the longest running scripted television programs in the world, airing nearly every weekday in the US since November 8, 1965.
In addition to meeting with fans, the talented cast of Days Of Our Lives also met with Eclipse Magazine’s Lora Bofill. Here is a sneak peak into her interview with four of the stars from Days Of Our Lives – Camila Banus (as Gabi Hernandez); Blake Berris (as Nick Fallon); Kate Mansi (as Abigail Deveraux); Shawn Christian (as Dr. Daniel Jonas).

Camila Banus: Hi, I’m Camila Banus and I play Gabi.
Blake Berris: Blake Berris as Nick.
Great! What are the favorite things you love about the characters you play on the soap?
Camila: One of the really most important things I like about Gabby is, she’s very loyal. She’s a very loyal friend…
Blake: One of my favorite things about Nick is just how complex he is. A unique character. I have a lot of love for it. I love the way the writers crafted his character. He’s kind of psychotic but also really loving and kind. He can be a total dick. He’s really highly intelligent but manipulative.
Are there any memorable moments you have gotten from fans?
Camila: Just being here …
Blake: I just think it is so cool to finally meet the people who support the show. It’s the reason why we are still on the air because people like this. They really care about it and care about the history. It’s amazing to see them face to face, and hear their stories and hear about how long they have been watching the show, how many generations. It’s been a part of their family. It’s very cool.
Yes, it’s been around for a long time. You just had your anniversary too.
Camila: 48 yesterday.

Camila: Thank you!
Blake: Thank you. There’s some really great stuff coming up!
Camila: Oh yeah, some crazy stuff happening.
Blake: Very, very exciting stuff.

What’s one of the best things you enjoy about your role on Days Of Our Lives?
Kate Mansi: The most enjoyable thing about playing Abigail would be… I really love seeing where the writers take Abigail in a way that is unexpected. I think that’s really fun… to go backwards and find out where that came from. I’ve really enjoyed it. There have been a couple of things so far that have really surprised me.
Do you ever see any similarities between yourself and Abigail?
Kate: Yes, I do. I definitely do. I think there are always crossovers. But our job is to make a complete character that exists as yourself or experiences. Similarities are that Abigail is inquisitive, very analytical, asks too many questions, not someone that settles… She’s super passionate. Her father was a reporter. So she has a zest for life that always makes her do this. That’s really exciting.
That’s great! Today, we are celebrating fans. Have you had any memorable experiences with a fan?
Kate: Yes, I have! A girl named Farley. I don’t know how old she is. She’s young. She was the first fan I ever met. It was my very first signing. In Miami. She was the very first person I ever had signed something… It turned out she was a dancer. I was a classically trained dancer as well. We managed to stay connected on twitter. It’s a really fun thing… That was a special moment.
So you love connecting with your fans?
Kate: Absolutely.

Any favorite episodes you’ve done on Days Of Our Lives?
Kate: Yes, I have. Unfortunately you haven’t seen them yet.
Are there any other things you’d like to say to our fans?
Kate: Just thank you. You guys are the reason why we are still on the air. So grateful to be playing Abigail, so much fun, thank you for your warmth. I just feel really blessed that I was well received. Thank you.
What is one of the favorite things you love playing on your role on Days Of Our Lives?
Shawn Christian: That he’s an unpredictable character, impulsive, a tumultuous character, so you don’t know even from one scene to the next exactly what choices he is going to make. He does make some provocative choices… love that.
Do you see any similarities between your character and yourself in real life?
Shawn: There are similarities between being someone provocative and impulsive and impetuous and all these things… Not a doctor.
Not a doctor! I know you play a doctor on the show. Did you have to prepare or read up on medical terminology?
Shawn: Yes, definitely if I have a surgical scene and something to talk about in the medical field. One of my buddies is an anesthesiologist. So I talk to him. He gives me the inside on what’s plausible, and what isn’t…
Has any Days Of Our Lives fans done anything that is memorable?
Shawn: There are always great gifts. Some personalize a Jack Daniel’s bottle… The joy on people’s faces when I see them.
