The fine folks at Warner Bros. Pictures have given us tickets to the Washington, DC Advanced Screening of HARRY POTTER AND THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE™ to give away! The screening will be Monday, July 13 at 7pm (Note the Early start Time). In Theaters Everywhere Wednesday, July 15th! This contest will run Tuesday, June 30, 2009 – July 10, 2009. Sorry this will not be one of our no hoop jumping contest, we want to give everyone a fair shot at the passes.
Synopsis
Emboldened by the return of Lord Voldemort, the Death Eaters are wreaking havoc in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds and Hogwarts is no longer the safe haven it once was. Harry suspects that new dangers may lie within the castle, but Dumbledore is more intent upon preparing him for the final battle that he knows is fast approaching. He needs Harry to help him uncover a vital key to unlocking Voldemort’s defenses—critical information known only to Hogwarts’ former Potions Professor, Horace Slughorn. With that in mind, Dumbledore manipulates his old colleague into returning to his previous post with promises of more money, a bigger office…and the chance to teach the famous Harry Potter.
UPDATE
Someone posted the code in the commenting section, breaking the spirit of the contest, so all of our passes are now gone. In the future I will not send out any codes until the day before a screening.
Meanwhile, the students are under attack from a very different adversary as teenage hormones rage across the ramparts. Harry’s long friendship with Ginny Weasley is growing into something deeper, but standing in the way is Ginny’s boyfriend, Dean Thomas, not to mention her big brother Ron. But Ron’s got romantic entanglements of his own to worry about, with Lavender Brown lavishing her affections on him, leaving Hermione simmering with jealousy yet determined not to show her feelings. And then a box of love potion-laced chocolates ends up in the wrong hands and changes everything.
As romance blossoms, one student remains aloof with far more important matters at hand. He is determined to make his mark, albeit a dark one. Love is in the air, but tragedy lies ahead and Hogwarts may never be the same again.
David Yates, who directed the 2007 summer blockbuster “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,” returned to direct “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince.” David Heyman, the producer of all of the Harry Potter films, produced the film, together with David Barron. Screenwriter Steve Kloves, who scripted the first four installments of the film franchise, adapted the screenplay based on the book by J.K. Rowling. Lionel Wigram served as executive producer, with John Trehy co-producing.

Trailer
I love Harry Potter! The movies just seem to get better and better, especially as the story lines get darker and more complicated. If I were to dress up as a character from the book, it would be Hermione – she and I have a lot in common – we both do a lot of reading and are sometimes called know-it-alls…
I love admire Harry Potter because it's great and I can escape top a magical world with Harry and the gang! I love how the books are dark because theres lots of action and I find Voldemort a character that I love to hate. If I was going to dress up as a Harry Potter character, I would choose Harry! Harry is courageous, nice, friendly, and very entertaining, so that's why I would definitely dress up as him. My favorite movie is The Chamber of Secrets because I think that it is the darkest one, and I like the secrets that we fid out about Voldemort. My favorite book is The Deathly Hallows because it has so much action and it's such a entertaining, fun, sad, and lovely book!
Nothing tops Harry Potter! The plots are always fantastic and the movies only get better and better! The visuals are fantastic and the performances from the actors never disappoint. Every cast member brings something different to their role, and I especially enjoy it when newcomers get large roles. My favorite movie is the Prisoner of Azkaban because of all the plot twists and the increased screen time for Hermione. She's my favorite character without a doubt, but Luna takes a close second. If I dressed up for the screening, I would come as Malfoy. Black suits FTW!
I like Harry Potter because I admire his leadership skills. I like the first movie, Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. If I dressed up for a screening, I'd go as Hermione Granger because she is smart and I support girl-power. :- )
I like the Harry Potter books/movies because they are just really good and interestng stories. I mostly like how, even in a fantasy world, things that go on can totally be related to real life. My favorite book/movie would probably be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. It seems to be the least scary of all the books/movies. If I dressed up for a screening, I would go as Nearly Headless Nick.
I'm a Harry Potter fan because the books/movies take us to a world of fantasy that provides us, as adults, with a well-done/written/performed escape that we don't get/receive in today's world. Each movie is artfully well-done, directed, and performed by the wonderful actors and actresses in each movie. If I'd dress up as a character, it'd probably be Voldemort, just because it's such a bad-ass character.
The Harry Potter series seems to be getting better and better and more sinister as it goes along. Great entertainment for children and adults alike. I would definitely be there as Hermione Granger.
I have read all the books and seen all the movies… I'm obsessed with Harry Potter (well, not really, but I do like him very much). Hmmm… who would I dress up as? Probably Luna… she's fun; plus I kinda look like her.
The movies just keep on getting better and better! I am really looking forward to this one; the previews for it are amazing. This is going to be one of the top (if not the best) movies of the year! I'll probably dress up as Tonks. I love her multi-colored hair!

Harry Potter —
like the magic
first one is my favorite (Socerer's Stone)
go as Dumbledore
Harry potter lover all the way. the best thing since sliced bread…well not really, but i think the series is great. i love the adventure and the way J.K. rowling writes, also the way she refers to Roman and greek mythology. I'm pretty sure Deathly Hallows is my favorite, and i think they've done a good job on the movies (relatively.) i love the sound tracks, especially Hedwig's theme. i guess i would dress up as P. McGonagall- emerald cloak, square glasses
Ever since I discovered HP I have loved him. Own all the books and the movies, and reread them when I have nothing else better.
Ooops! Forgot. I would dress up as McGonegal she's been such a steady character.
Without a doubt, Harry Potter is the most magical character ever brought to life. Unlike other book/movie series, the movies are able to focus in on key elements of the storyline and translate the fantasy flawlessly onto the big screen. Each movie has been vastly more intense and captivating than the last, so I can't wait to see what the director has in store this time…especially having had the opportunity to read the final HP book while the movie was still in production. I can't wait for the premiere…dressed up as Hermione in full Gryffindor regalia, of course!!
I love the Harry Potter movies and have seen all of the many times. I would be willing to come to the screening dressed as Harry himself. I already have the hat. Thanks.
I love Harry Potter and have read all the books. Would love to see how this movie does against the book and would dress up as Herminoe
I love Harry Potter the character and the first movie the most, because the director did spend a lot of effort on developing the magical world and this includes costumes, effects, make-up, etc rather than solely effects which happened in the following movies. The first movie also did its best to reach the originality of the book, so it deserves some credit on that.
Thanks!
Ah Harry Potter my "not-so-guilty" pleasure. Have you ever seen the film "Yes Man"? If so, I'm the Norman, I throw crazy hilarious themed parties, including Harry Potter. I usually dress up at Ginny Weasley as I'm a natural ginger myself but I have been known to do a great Ron as well. I have multiple costumes so it wouldn't be highly unlikely that I'd dress up to attend a sneak preview!
For your complimentary pass to
My favorite Harry Potter movie is Goblet of Fire. Being originally from the UK, it's the only one so far that recreated the true landscape and feel of the area where Hogwarts is supposed to be, and mixed it with elements of the fantastic. If I were to dress up for the screening, I would go as the Snitch.
I've loved Harry Potter since i read the philosophers stone in 1997. Its the first "children's" book i've been excited about. I love all of the movies but 'the order of the phoenix' is my favourite movie while 'the prisoner of askaban' is my favourite movie. I'm coming as Cornelius Fudge and I want my girlfriend to be Delores Umbridge.
My favorite film and book was the Goblet of Fire. I would dress as Harry.
Ive always been into any story that epic element to it or stories that would otherwise be identified as sagas. Harry Potter is a great example of this, because it any good epic story it allows the audience to follow a group of character (be they good and bad) and eventually grow attached to them. Out of the series so far, I would say that I liked Goblet of Fire the best and my favorite character (that I would dress as) would have to be Voldemort, because bad guys have more fun :).
I enjoy Harry Potter because of the themes it introduces based on the nature of the characters. Sometimes these themes are related to the characters individual characteristics, such as Ron's arachnophobia (the giant spiders in Chamber of Secrets) or Hermoine's "muckblood" issue (racism or discrimination). Other times the themes are presented in response to the characters' typical "growing pains," whether it be adolescence (ion general) or dating. My favorite Harry Potter movie is The Order of the Phoenix, because shows Harry starting to come into his own as a leader and as a wizard. In a lot of the movies prior it seemed as Harry was always somewhat "flying by the seat of his pants." If I were to dress up a character it would probably be Ron because I hate spiders too. LOL
I have read all the Harry Potter books and seen all the movies to date. Love Harry, but I am a Snape fan as well. The best movie so far for me, was Goblet of Fire. I would dress as Hermione Granger.
Harry Potter is the modern Star Wars for me, it's the only series that I really get hyped over. I love the books because I feel like their so skilly written and are so air-tight considering the immense plot taking place over the course of all 7 of them. These books are the reason that I got back into reading again, so I really feel like I owe a lot to J.K. Rowling for sharing her talents with the world. as far as characters go, I'd show up dressed as Kingsley Shacklebolt. he's a big dude, he's tough, and he was the first black Minister of Magic, so he's like their Barack Obama. Order of the Phoenix was also my favorite book and he's first introduced in that one, so I'd have to go with Kingsley.
I think even more so than the Lord of the Rings series, Harry Potter on the big screen beautifully emulates the writing of JK Rowling. I am impressed how as you sit in the theatre watching these films you become completely immersed in the world. Even though the movie appeals a lot to the under 18 crowd, the themes in the film are dark and deep and this is just one of the things that makes them so good. As an NIH researcher, I think I would have to dress up as Harry because there is something geeky about him that I share.
Harry Potter brings magic to life! My favorite Harry Potter film would have to be Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. I enjoy harry potter but I am really love the character Hermine. She wants to be a know-it-all, bookworm, etc. but still is a clutz when it comes to dealing with the opposite sex. I would love to wear a hermine costume to the movie screening. 🙂
I began to read the Harry Potter books after going to see Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone. Harry Potter reminds me wanting to of the Lord of the Rings trilogy with bringing mystical characters together for the fight against good and evil. I would dress up as Ron Weasley. He is hilarious!
Harry Potter is such a great movie! I enjoy all the of the movies, it is a lot of fun watching them. Harry Potter is my hero! Its not an IF, it is I will definitively dress up as a girl version of harry potter. I would love to dress up for this screening.
I watched every movie every movie that came out from Harry Potter and I can't miss this one especially if its a screening, I will be happy! Harry Potter movies are the best! If I went to this screening, I will dress up as Harry Potter, I will have the mark on my forehead and be dressed just like him. I even look like him, for Halloween I dressed up as him and people would tell me how similar I was to him. I would love to get tickets to go this screening, I will definitely dress up for this screening and take pictures!
honestly, i've never seen a Harry Potter movie, but i wouldn't mind seeing this one to see what all of the hype about him is.
what was with ginny's multi-colored hair? was that an acciden tb/c she had balkc hair for about a minute in the scene when harry 1st arrives @ the Weaslys'
