Bill Paxton has signed on to play S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent John Garrett, mentor of Agent Ward and canon character – first appearing in Elektra: Assassin #2.

The ‘Big Love’ & ‘Aliens’ star will play Agent John Garrett in an upcoming episode!
S.H.I.E.L.D. has found its newest recruit in Bill Paxton, who will guest star in an upcoming episode of "Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." as Agent John Garrett!
Bill Paxton joins Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. as a former mentor of Agent Ward’s (Brett Dalton)

"We had imagined Bill when we were initially developing the character, and now that he’s actually playing the role, we’re pretty much geeking out. Paxton, whose credits include a five year run on HBO’s "Big Love" and an Emmy-nominated role in "Hatfields & McCoys" as well as "Aliens," "Twister," "Apollo 13," "Titanic" and many more, will join the cast as a former mentor of Agent Ward (Brett Dalton). In the Marvel comics, John Garrett first appeared in ELEKTRA: ASSASSIN #2, and most recently joined forces with Nick Fury once again in SECRET WARRIORS.
