Last weekend, AMD held an event in LA to announce their new line of Graphic Cards and to preview where they are going as a company in the next year. I’m not allowed to talk about some things for a few more days, but the embargo was up yesterday over their new line up of AMD GPU Cards. The cards are the 6870 and 6850 cards. Both of these cards should set new benchmarks in performance and power. On hand for the launch of these cards were people from Electronic Arts touting the power of these cards in game creation and someone from TroubleMaker studios was on hand to talk about how they use AMD Cards in the machines they use to edit films like Predators and Machete. One of the highlights of the new card is the ability to stream content to multiple monitors through a single connection. I will have a full write up and videos from the event over the next few days. As soon as the embargo is lifted I will give you more technical specs on the card.
Imagine using this card to create your latest short movie or to play a round of Batman Arkham Asylum? Here is the 6870…
I have to admit it’s been quite awhile since I’ve fiddled with a Desktop computer but after seeing all the demos at the AMD Event I may have to go out and get a desktop just to use this card. One of the demos showed a developer using the 3D Game Creation tool Maya without any stutters or pauses. And now the 6850..
Notice all the ports on this puppy? I can’t mention much else without risking running afoul of the dreaded embargo. But I think I’ll be safe in opening some of the floodgates this weekend.
