Accell’s UltraAV DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI 1.4

Accell_DisplayPort 1.1

Over the summer I attended CES Week in NYC where I met with a bunch of really cool consumer technology companies. One of the folks that I met with was an cable accessory company called Accell Corporation. They make the cables that make all your equipment actually work.  I’ve been playing around with a sample of their new UltraAV Mini DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI 1.4 Active Adapter.

Accell’s UltraAV DisplayPort 1.1 to HDMI 1.4 active adapter enables a DisplayPort supported computer to connect to an HDMI supported display.  The Accell UltraAV DisplayPort to HDMI Active adapter is AMD Eyefinity certified, providing an optimal experience when using AMD Eyefinity Technology and allowing a three-monitor configurations.

Apple has been pushing Mini DisplayPort technology in their Mac lineups for the past few years, however the technology hasn’t really taken off in the PC World yet, so it is hard to find a monitor (other than the Thunderbolt Display) that has a built in DisplayPort. HDMI is still the more common option. This little cable is designed to stay with you for awhile and supports future technologies including; Ultra HD 4K monitors, 300 Mhz clock rates for 3D, and is compliant with current DisplayPort and HDMI standards.  It also handles uncompressed 8-channel audio, and extended color depths.

Generally speaking I’m not a fan of dongles nor multiple attachments on single cables, I prefer uniformed direct connections, but this worked well with my 27 Inch ViewSonic and 23 Inch HP monitors. I didn’t notice any signal lost, or discolorations between my MBP screen and my monitors. At about $13, the price is right and won’t break the bank. Does what it says it does.
