Lately I’ve been having a lot of issues with my mouse. It has been a little flaky and unreliable lately. So while I was looking around at alternatives for my Mac, the folks at A4tech sent me their, get this for a name, Bloody Ultra Core 3 gaming mouse. Technically this mouse does not officially work with macs. After a week of playing with it on my Windows Laptop, I hooked it up to my Macbook Pro and low and behold for the most part it does work.
I say mostly because basic mouse functions work, if you want all the bells and whistles you have to install the windows software onto a windows machine. The software installation is a bit annoying but then I readily admit a gaming mouse is not for your average, normal computer user. A gaming mouse is for people who most likely built their computers, don’t mind tinkering and want the best of the best.
There are seven buttons on the mouse that can be fully customized. There are left and right standard triggers, left and right flaps and three additional buttons right under the scroll wheel – these buttons let you easily pull of single, strafe, and burst shots. The software interface allows you to customize every aspect of your mouse. You can set the sensitivity to any level that you’d like.
Auto scripts allows you to create your own custom controls at the code level. The macro section allows users to build and download macros for various popular PC Games. Various macros for Counter Strike are available out of the box. The macros let users pre-program moves. The online shop shows up in Chinese but you can use the automatic translator to put the site in a language you understand.
While I’m not particularly a PC gamer, from a purely ergonomic standpoint this is one of the nicest computer mouses that I have ever used. It feels solid and smooth in the hand. Each and every curve of my hand fits perfectly with the controls. The mouse pointer is sharp and smooth.
I tested some of the gaming functions on Call of Duty 2 and Gears of War. Without delving into the minutia of setting up the Macros, everything worked perfectly fine. I’m not sure if it made me a better gamer or not, but it did make life a little easier and had a better response rate than my standard mouse. Again, the comfort level of the mouse may have helped more than the software enhancements. While there was some lag in some situations it was infrequent and could have more to do with my laptop than the mouse itself.
This is a pretty cool little mouse, however it always annoys me when things aren’t multi-platform so it loses a couple of points because it doesn’t work fully with Macs. The mouse is available on Amazon.com for a pricey . Check out the official website here.
