On this day in 1977, Elvis Aaron Presley died. I’m not one who writes obituaries or tributes because I’m completely unqualified to do it. But man, Elvis was one of my idols. I remember coming home from school and watching his movies on DC 20 and the first time that I saw the Kurt Russell film Elvis and one of the very first books I remember ever reading was Elvis: What Happened by Steve Dunleavy. Every year, Graceland has Elvis week, a week where fans gather together to remember and celebrate Elvis’ life. I’m spending the day listening to Elvis music and watching some of my favorite Elvis films including Speedway, Rio Bravo and Elvis.
