Because the Indie Spirit Awards don’t have a hopelessly outdated and unnecessary set of rules for choosing the best foreign film of the year, both Black Swan and The King’s Speech took home major awards at the 2011 Indie Spirit Awards. The biggest surprise, though, had to be Winter’s Bone taking both supporting acting awards.
The Joel McCrea hosted event was as irreverent and fun as expected, though [personal opinion here] it’ll take some kind of miracle for future hosts to top John Waters.
