Television Re-Cap: Gossip Girl, The Lost Boy, S3, Ep 3

Three weeks into doing show re-caps I’ve tried a couple of different methods – Tivo the show, watch the entire show and then provide you with a summary, that was a lot of work because it meant I had to "memorize" the details so I’ve started to do these re-caps "live" as I watch the episodes unfold. This way if something surprising, good, or funny happens hopefully it’ll come through during the re-cap. Anywho this week I wrote the re-cap with a pen and paper because I forgot my power cable at work. I tried to write in the Gossip Girl style but halfway through I just got annoyed calling everyone by their first initial. Now on to this week’s episode.

The Lost Boy, Season 3, Episode 3 Recap

The show opens with Blair catching Dan on top of Georgina. Blair should have known to respect the Sock on the door. That’s dorm living 101. Vanessa and Serena catch Dan coming out of Georgina’s room shirtless they tease him mercilessly about it. Scott lies to Vanessa about attending class to hang out with Rufus. I’m telling you Scott is going to turn into a Psycho by the end of the season. Vanessa finds out he doesn’t go to NYU and confronts him about it. He tells Vanessa the truth and she convinces him to tell Rufus the truth. Psycho boy originally thought Rufus abandoned him and Vanessa told him the truth, Scott calls his mother (off screen) to confirm Vanessa’s story.

Meanwhile Dan and Serena have a moment, she tells him to be careful and to watch his back but she’s fine with him dating Georgina. Dan and Georgina agree to date but not be serious about it. Blair gets invited to join a secret society but to get in she has to get hold of a specific picture that’s going to be auctioned off at Southebys. Chuck wants that same picture to impress a nightclub owner. Obviously this is a setup by Georgina.

Chuck and Blair set Carter up to get Serena to dump him.

Nate and Bree decide it’s time to take their relationship public. So they have their moment walking into the Auction. We don’t see them again for the rest of the episode. At the auction all the gang show up and you just know there’s going to be trouble, but there isn’t. Psycho Boy confronts Rufus but his mother shows up and he wimps out instead of stating the truth he tells Rufus that he’s his son’s brother and he wanted to meet him. Rufus hugs Scott and invites him and his mother over. Serena buys the photo and tells Chuck and Blair that the entire thing was obviously a setup by Georgina. She tells Chuck and Blair the truth about how Carter helped her find her father. Serena confronts Georgina and tells her that she will destroy Georgina if she doesn’t back off.  Apparently Bree’s family has been after Carter for years and she’s going to give him up to get back into their good graces.

Psycho Boy returns to say good bye to Vanessa and tells her he’s going back home to spend time with his mother. Georgina hears the conversation and books her own trip to Boston. This can’t be good for the Humphreys. The episode ends with Chuck telling Blair "Why buy a nightclub, when you can buy a hotel." So Chuck cashed out all of his Bass Industries stock to buy a hotel. You know it’s not going to be that simple.

Comments

Another good installment, I didn’t like it as much as last week’s episode but it was pretty strong. The characters are really starting to grown and I like the progression. I think they need to do something with Nate in the next few weeks or finally kill him off he’s contributed nothing this season. His relationship with Bree is not believable at all and there’s no chemistry. Luckily they aren’t on camera long enough for you to even care. I still can’t stand Georgina. I would like to see Dan and Vanessa get together, even while I say that I don’t want to see it. I like that they are such great friends and it’s a good role model to show kids that yes male and females can be best friends without sexual tension getting in the way. Who chooses the music for GG? It’s so uninspired and boring. Next week Hilary Duff joins the cast as a famous actress who becomes Vanessa’s roommate.
