My War Horse journey is now complete. It started at the world premiere, then award season and now Joey the horse comes to Blu-ray in a 4 disc combo set. This movie holds up remarkably well and gets better with each successive viewing. I can’t say that about most movies.

NBC’s “SMASH” Hits All the Right Notes!
It is extremely refreshing to see a series where a courtroom, a hospital, or a crime scene are nowhere in sight. Networks don’t often take chances on a series without one of those popular and successful staples as its foundation. And let’s also get another thing straight – with the exception of the inclusion of […]
Spielberg And Cast Talk NBC’s SMASH!
In less than three weeks, NBC’s series about putting on a show, Smash, will premiere. To whet your metaphoric whistle, here are some behind the scenes videos – including one of executive producer Steven Spielberg talking about why the show fascinates him and will fascinate you, as well. More videos follow the jump – including […]
The Adventures of Tintin – Action! Suspense! Comedy! Not a Lot of Heart!
If I hadn’t known, going in, that The Adventures of Tintin had been adapted from three volumes of the Herge´ series of graphic novels, I might have suspected it from the constant action.
Steven Spielberg Talks War Horse!
Steven Spielberg’s War Horse will be in theaters on Christmas Day. He talks about the film following the jump.
Super 8 Delivers On DVD!
Super 8 is J.J. Abrams’ first film to not be a sequel or reimagining. It’s a tale of innocence lost and found; the magic of making movies and an alien creature that may or may not be a monster. Although the DVD release is more than a bit short on extras [a commentary and two […]
Jason O’Mara – When Terra Nova’s New Sheriff Speaks We Listen!
When Terra Nova premieres this evening [Fox, 8/7C], American audiences will witness Jason O’Mara’s third shot at a hit TV series – his previous shows, Men In Trees and Life On Mars, were not hits, though he received good reviews, personally. The affable Irishman comes across, onscreen, as someone we want to see every week […]
United States of Tara: Season Three – Left Hanging, But on a Hopeful Note!
Showtime canceled United States of Tara – the series about the dysfunctional family with the matriarch who suffers from Dissociative Identity Disorder – after seeing its third season ratings plummet. This is a shame because the series was far better than the inexplicably more popular Nurse Jackie. Thus, all though it doesn’t get a proper […]
Falling Skies: The Other Spielberg Series Is Superb!
While Terra Nova has gotten huge press – partly because of the scrubbing of its early premiere and partly because of a pretty spiffy trailer – Steven Spielberg’s other series, Falling Skies [TNT, Sundays, 9/8C] is coming off without a hitch, this weekend. And it’s really, really good!
PARAMOUNT AND TWITTER TEAM UP FOR FIRST-EVER ‘TWEET MOVIE SNEAK PREVIEW’ OF "SUPER 8" ON JUNE 9th!
Super 8, one of the summer’s most anticipated films, will be running public sneak peeks all day tomorrow through the partnership of Paramount Pictures and Twitter. Details on how to obtain tickets follow the jump.
Paramount Releases Third Super 8 Trailer!
It’s odd, but I find myself anticipating J.J. Abrams’ Super 8 more than almost all of the big budget tentpole movies that are scheduled for release this summer [and I’m eagerly awaiting a good many of those!]. Maybe it’s because the film seems to encapsulate the feeling of such disparate films as ET, Stand By […]
