FX+ Commercial-Free Service has added the first seven seasons of the award-winning animated series Archer to its growing library.
Archer: Dreamland, will be added to FX+ in February ahead of the premiere of the ninth season, Archer: Danger Island.
FX+ is the commercial-free, on-demand hub for all seasons of almost every current and library title of FX and FXX original series. The service is currently available to Comcast Xfinity TV and Cox Contour subscribers who upgrade their service to include FX+ in their video package for $5.99 per month.
Archer: Dreamland (FXX, Wednesdays, 10/9C) picks up almost where season seven left off – following a brief opening scene of Wodehouse’s funeral – with a badly wounded Archer floating in a swimming pool (talk about instant catch-up) before cutting to our hero (and I use the term loosely) in a hospital bed, in a coma, and his mother sitting by his bedside and refusing to move (but not refusing to drink – a lot).
We recently sat down with the spy extraordinaire himself, H. Jon Benjamin to discuss Season 6 of Archer, the possibility of a live action version of the animated series and how they plan to wrap things up in the finale airing Thursday at 10pm on FX.
Archer (FX, Mondays, 10/9C) returns with a bang, literally, in tonight’s season five premiere. After a surreal, paradisical teaser that unspools to music every Chuck Jones fan will recognise, something goes horribly wrong and the credits roll. It’s something that’s a bit shocking and a little disturbing on the heels of something hilarious – a mix Archer fans have come to know and love.
When Archer (FX, Mondays, 10/9C) returns for the fifth season premiere, the employees of ISIS will discover that they’ve been living a lie since, well, forever. In terms of environment, the series will be completely new – but the characters are still the characters we know and love (in spite of ourselves, or themselves… you know what I mean) and it is still the best animated series on TV.
A few days back, H. Jon Benjamin – the voice of Sterling Archer – spoke to a group of journalists/bloggers about the new season… and a few other not-necessarily related topics. As always, it was an experience.
H. Jon Benjamin has one of the best jobs in voiceover – he’s the voice of Archer’s (Fox, Thursdays, 10/9C) self-involved titular character, ISIS Agent Sterling Archer. He’s also the voice of Bob, in Bob’s Burgers and was the go-between in setting up the Archer ep that opened in Bob’s Burgers.
If you were to expect that Benjamin would be one of the strangest and most entertaining subjects for a conference call Q&A session, you would not believe how right you were – unless you were to follow the jump to the transcript of this Q&A, recorded late last week.
This week’s episode of Archer [FX, Thursdays, 10/9C], El Secuestro, is built around the character of Cheryl/Carol, dim bulb secretary to the self-involved head of ISIS, Malory Archer. It’s an episode packed with unexpected delights and a juicy secret or two.
How do you top the kind of unspeakably crude and equally unspeakably funny work of your first brilliant season? If you’re Adam Reed, creator of Archer [FX, Thursdays, 10/9C], you dig deep and go for a situation that’s so uncool that even Sterling Archer is compelled to show some discipline!
