The creepy series The Strain – based on the trilogy by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan – is poised to return. Judging from FX’s new trailer, it’s going to be darker, creepier and messier than season one. I can’t wait!

Shaky Trailer: San Andreas!

San Andreas - Ray in Chopper

Warner Bros. disaster flick, San Andreas, has a very scary new trailer. Even star Dwayne Johnson – as a rescue helicopter pilot named Ray –  looks tiny in comparison to The Big One.

See for yourself after the jump. San Andreas opens on May 29th.

San Andreas opens on May 29, 2015. Check out the first trailer for San Andreas after the jump.

Showrunner Carlton Cuse chats about The Strain

Carlton Cuse The Strain 9-28-14

Producer/screenwriter Carlton Cuse first read “The Strain” horror book trilogy in 2009 and became an instant fan.  When he was approached by  Guillermo del Toro to adapt the book series for tv, it was an absolute yes. However, this was not going to be just another vampire tv show.  It was unique in itself.  Months were spent in preparation for the pilot, and shooting of the series before premiering in July 13,2014.  Carlton talks about how “The Strain”, just like “Indiana Jones And the Last Crusade”,  is an adventure story–with horror elements.

FX’s hit horror series The Strain has been picked up for a second season. The news of the show’s renewal comes with seven episodes yet to air in its debut season.

Season One of The Strain will be released on DVD And Blu-Ray on December 2nd. For further details, follow the jump.

The Strain Shines Darkly – Not Sparkly!

THE STRAIN -- Pictured: Cory Stoll as Ephraim Goodweather. CR. Michael Gibson/FX.

The Strain (FX, Sundays, 10/9C) brings the idea of vampires as evil predatory creatures who do not charm and most definitely do not sparkle. Adapted from the novels by Guillermo Del Toro and Chuck Hogan – both Executive Producers on the series, and writers of the premiere; Del Toro directed – this is a series to be watched with a nightlight on and the hope that it won’t inspire nightmares.

The Strain: Guillermo Del Toro and Carlton Cuse Want To Creep You Out!

Del Toro & Cuse

FX’s The Strain (Sundays, 10/9C) approaches vamipirism as a disease – a disease with an intelligence, with nothing remotely sympathetic about it. Premiering this weekend, The Strain will shock you, scare and probably prompt you to laugh nervously as often as you scream (or hold back screams – your choice…).

Eclipse had the opportunity to be a part of a conference call Q&A with Co-creator/Executive Producer Guillermo Del Toro and Executive Producer/Showrunner Carlton Cuse about the series – which they quickly assured us stepped away from sparkly, sympathetic vampires and placed them firmly back into the realm of horror where they belong. Del Toro was running late but joined the session a few minutes in.

Carlton Cuse’s American adaptation of hit French series The Returned has been picked up with a 10-episode order and a summer production start. The Returned is a unique take on the zombie genre and the North American debut of the original French series placed in the top five of Eclipse’s Favorite Fifteen + 5 earlier this year.

Cuse wrote the first episode of the new take on The Returned and will write and produce the series with Raelle Tucker (True Blood) for A&E. For more details, check out the press release following the jump.

TELEVISION: Lost – Like General Franco, John Locke is Still Dead!

Lost Supper [Locke Version]

After ten-and-a-half months, Lost returned with its final season premiere, a two-hour premiere called LA X, last night. The final Lost recap, in a stroke of genius, was narrated by Michael [Ben Linus] Emerson and tracked the individual character arcs of the main cast members – an approach that was unique for these things – and set the tone for a most unusual beginning to Lost’s end. I have no idea how many theories were rendered invalid last night, or how many fans were thrilled or ticked off, but no can say the answers didn’t begin with a couple of big bangs!

Spoilers follow the jump.
