SundanceTV Launches Shorts On SundanceTV!

SundanceTV

Not every story needs a 180-minutes, $300 million budget and a ton of CGI to do it justice. SundanceTV not only recognizes this, they’ve launched Shorts on SundanceTV – highlighting ‘notable  drama and comedy short films from the past decade’ on their already award-winning website.

Genres range from family drama to sci-fi weirdness and come from heralded directors (Jill Solloway, Transparent; Denis Villeneuve, Prisoners, Sicario); actors venturing onto new ground (Jordana Spiro, Mob Doctor) and people you might never otherwise have heard of (Emily Carmichael).

The first five selections are up now. Check them out. And for further information, follow the jump.

“SHORTS ON SUNDANCE.TV” LAUNCHES AS NEW ONLINE DESTINATION FOR AWARD-WINNING SHORT FILMS

NEW YORK, NY – June 23, 2015 – SundanceTV today announced it has launched “Shorts on Sundance.TV,” a new online destination within the network’s website featuring award-winning and notable drama and comedy short films from the past decade.

The first batch of films unveiled by SundanceTV is an eclectic selection of “Festival Shorts” curated by Michael Plante, Senior Programmer, Short Film, at the Sundance Film Festival, and featuring projects from Jill Soloway (“Transparent”), Denis Villeneuve (Prisoners, the upcoming Blade Runner sequel) and more.

“With ‘Shorts on Sundance.TV,’ we wanted to build on the history of the Sundance brand in showcasing the best in independent films, and offer complementary online content to the excellent storytelling taking place on our linear network,” said Drew Pisarra, vice president of digital media and marketing for SundanceTV. “We’ve created a dedicated platform on sundance.tv for quality short films to be seen and enjoyed by fans looking for smart, entertaining content. We’re excited to have Mike Plante from the Sundance Film Festival curating these shorts on sundance.tv, and we’ll be rolling out more from the festival in the months to come.”

SundanceTV will be releasing five more Festival Shorts next month, along with a number of shorts produced by or starring the cast and crew of “Rectify,” the network’s Peabody Award-winning drama that will premiere its third season on Thursday, July 9th at 10:00PM ET/PT.
