The release date for Star Wars VIII has bet – it’s May 26, 2017. Or, the same date at The LEGO Movie sequel. Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) has officially been set as writer and director.

Gareth Edwards’ standalone Star Wars movie is now entitled Rogue One. Felicity Jones (Oscar®-nominee of her role in The Theory of Everything) is the first actor cast.
Rogue One will be written by Chris Weitz (Cinderella) from a story idea by John Kroll (Academy Award-winning visual effects supervisor and chief creative officer at Industrial Light & Magic).
