Hayden Byerly Talks About The Fosters Season 3B!

Hayden Byerly

So this is actually my 3rd or 4th time interviewing The Fosters’ Hayden Byerly. One day we’ll actually meet and do one of these things in person. He has come a long way in two years. We talk a bit about what’s fans of the show can expect to see in the new season (He’s a pro now so sadly no spoilers), his brand new charity and what’s going on with Jonnor and Braille. We did ask about his off screen relationship with Gavin MacIntosh (Connor). The Fosters airs on Freeform (Formerly ABC Family) and returns Monday, January 25th.

When last we talked it was S2, Jude and Connor finally got together and the internet exploded. Can you talk a bit about what that period of time was like for you professionally and personally?

H: I am proud to be on a show that is always positively impacting youth.

In S3, the Jude and Connor relationship underwent some changes. How did Jude’s surprising decision to keep Jonnor on the down-low impact the relationship?

H: Stay tuned!

It seems like Connor’s decision to move to LA at the end of S3A had more to do with Jude than his dad. Do you buy into this perception?

H: Jude told Connor that he should live in LA with his mom, because he was trying to be supportive.  Connor wanted to move away because of his dad and Jude only helped him make that decision easier.

Jude and Callie have been fighting more and more lately. I always thought this is actually healthy for the relationship and that it meant Jude finally feels settled enough to where he can finally start seeing Callie as his sister and not a mother figure. Can you talk a little bit about this?

H: I’ve always thought Jude and Callie felt like they needed to protect each other, therefore they didn’t argue. I have always thought the two felt the need to keep one another safe. Now that Callie and Jude are adopted by the Fosters, I feel they are more able to focus on their relationship rather than their stability.

Is Connor coming back for 3B? Rumor has it that we’ll meet Connor’s mother this season?

H: There is a high likelihood that Connor will be back. Watch the previews! It has been said in previous references towards Connor’s mother that she doesn’t like children so I can’t imagine we would see her. But who knows!

Who are you rooting for in this year’s NFL Playoffs and are you a gamer? What do you do for fun?

H: Being from Colorado, I will be rooting for the Broncos. I am a huge gamer. For fun, I like to watch TV and movies, skateboard, and hang with my family.

Can you talk a little bit about Hayden’s Hope Totes and the inspiration behind it?

H: Hayden’s Hope Totes is a Nonprofit I recently started to help kids transitioning into the foster system by providing them with a duffle bag to take their belongings with them when removed from their homes. You can get involved or find more information at: http://www.haydenshopetotes.org

What do you think is going to happen with Braille in 3B now that Callie is adopted?

H: I don’t know if Brallie will live on. We’ll all be waiting to find out!

There are a lot of cast changes including the introduction of a new love interest for Sharon, a new Jesus and the return of Lexi. How have these changes impacted the set?

H: We are one big happy family there on the set of The Fosters. Every person that has continued onto the show is a positive addition to our family.

Are we going to see more of the Quinn’s and namely more interaction with Jude and Sophia/Jill? I loved those few scenes last year and want to see more.

H: I’m not sure that we will see the Quinn’s, but I guess we will need to wait and see!

The show has already been renewed for S4. What’s it like to not have to go through the will they/won’t they drama for the first time in the show’s history?

H: We did go through the will they / won’t they of waiting for a renewal. I am excited they have picked up The Fosters for a 4th season.
