One of the coolest new shows on television last season was HBO’s Togetherness, from Jay and Mark Duplass, leaders of the lo-hi, naturalistic mumblecore film movement.
The story of four late thirtysomething friends – married couple Brett (Mark Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie Lynsky), trying to adapt to being parents; Steve (Steve zissis), an out-of-work incredibly sensitive actor, and Tina (Amanda Peet), the free spirit of the group who (secretly dreading being alone) – racked up considerable acclaim and a dedicated audience.
Season two of Togetherness has been given a premiere date, February 21, 2016, and there’s a new trailer that you can check out after the break.

Brett (Mark Duplass) and Michelle (Melanie Lynskey) are a married couple in their mid-late 30s struggling to adapt their relationship to the pressures of parenthood. Brett’s best friend is Alex (Steve Zissis), an overweight, out-of-work actor debating if he still has a shot at being successful. Alex connects with Michelle’s sister, Tina (Amanda Peet), a free spirit grappling with being single and getting older. Each adult fights to sustain his or her own passion without skirting responsibility. As the two couples find themselves living under one roof, ‘Togetherness’ explores the significance behind every day moments.
