Tom Selleck is fortunate enough to have played two once-in-a-lifetime characters in Thomas Magnum and Jesse Stone – the latter over the course of five original TV movies for CBS. Now word comes, from The Hollywood Reporter, that Selleck is about to sign on the dotted line to star in an untitled drama pilot for the network.
The multi-generational untitled pilot would star Selleck as Michael, the handsome, confident chief of police for the NYPD – who lives with his father, Patrick [Len Cariou], a former NYPD police chief – who struggles to balance the political demands of his job with doing right by his fellow cops. Michael’s son, Brian [Donnie Wahlberg] is also a detective
In the popular, critically acclaimed Jesse Stone TV-movies, Selleck plays an alcoholic big city detective who takes on the job of police chief in the small New England town of Paradise.
