A good athlete knows when it’s time to retire and, perhaps, the same should true of fantasy leaguers (okay, probably not). Whatever the case, FXX’s The League has reached time. On Wednesday, September 9th (10/9C), the seventh and final season of the worst group of fantasy football leaguers ever premieres – followed by the young and nasty whippersnappers of You’re the Worst (10:30/9:30C) just stepping into their sophomore season.
If you’re a fan of The League then you’ll be glad to know that the producers of the series are approaching their move to their new home on FXX with the same kind of off-the-wall loopiness/faux seriousness that characterizes the show. Check out some of the League-related PSAs after the jump.
The League premieres on FXX Wednesday, September 4th at 10:30/9:30C.
FXX, Fox Networks’ new network targeting the 18-34 demographic, will debut on Monday, September 2nd with Parks and Recreation marathon. The network’s launch week will feature season premieres of comedy hits It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League – as well as the new season of the critically acclaimed late night talk show Totally Biased with W. Kamau Bell.
The network will also being featuring a numbered of acquired series of extremely high quality – like Arrested Development, How I Met Your Mother, Freaks and Geeks, Rescue Me and Sports Night (for my money, still the best TV series Aaron Sorkin has ever done!). While the FXX launch is built around original and acquired comedy series and movies, it will expand to include original drama series.
Thanks to distribution deals with every major distributer in America, FXX will launch in 72 million homes. Follow the jump for the press release, which includes premiere dates and a link to a website generated specifically to show viewers where the network will appear on their system.
The League [FX, Thursdays, 10:30/9:30C] is a show about six members of a fantasy football league – in the same sense that a hurricane is about wind. These people are dedicated to winning – and not particularly scrupulous about how they do so.
It’s that time of the year once again – that time when every self-described expert tries to put together a winning fantasy football league team. Fantasy league participants range from the casual [select the players, deal with the results] to the extreme [preparing for the draft means ignoring friends and family and doing as little at work as is required to not get fired].
FX’s The League [Thursdays, 10:30 /9:30C] is built around a league composed of the latter – and extreme members even for the latter. Earlier this week, I had the opportunity to take part in a teleconference Q&A session with the show’s creators: Jeff and Jackie Schaffer. What transpired follows the jump.
