Netflix and Norwood Entertainment Announce New Take On Anne of Green Gables!

Netflix is teaming with Norwood Entertainment and the CBC to produce the new dramatic series, ANNE.

The series comes from Moira Walley-Beckett (Breaking Bad) and is based on Lucy Maud Montgomery’s classic novel, Anne of Green Gables. The two-hour premiere will be directed by Niki Caro (Whale Rider, McFarland USA).

The eight episode one-hour series will stream globally on Netflix and air on CBC in Canada. Follow the jump for more.

Ben Daniels Nabs Feature Role In Starz Drama Flesh and Bone!

Tony®-nominated actor Ben Daniels has won the part of the ‘volatile and brilliant artistic director Paul Grayson’ in Starz’s new drama set in the world of ballet. The series, from Breaking Bad’s Moira Walley-Beckett, will begin shooting in New York City this spring.

Starz Signs Animal Kingdom Director for Flesh and Bone Pilot!

David Michôd, director of Australia’s global hit film Animal Kingdom has been signed to direct the pilot for Flesh and Bone, the ballet drama from former Breaking Bad co-executive producer/writer Moira Walley-Beckett.

The series – which has cast acclaimed dancer Sarah Hay in the lead role as a young ballet dancer with a distinctly troubled past, as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York – begins filming in New York this spring.  Check out the press release after the jump. Michôd’s latest film, The Rover – starring Robert Pattinson and Guy Pearce – will be released later this summer.

From Breaking Bad to Ballet–Moira Walley-Beckett’s Flesh and Bone Gets Series Order at Starz!

Once you’ve become part of the almost mythic tale of the man who goes from Mr. Chips to Scarface, what do you do for encore? Create a series a series, called Flesh and Bone, that follows the story of a ‘transcendent’ ballerina – with ambition and self-destructive tendencies – who has just joined a prestigious ballet company.

Flesh and Bone has cast acclaimed dancer Sarah Hays (Black Swan, pictured above) in the lead role of Claire. Hays joins a cast that already includes former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Irina Dvorovenko and current soloist Sascha Radetsky, along with Royal New Zealand Ballet artistic director and former American Ballet Theatre principal dancer Ethan Stiefel, who is attached as choreographer. The series will begin production in early 2014 and the series is expected to debut in 2015. For more details, follow the jump to the press release.

Starz is looking to develop a series that explores ‘the dysfunctional underbelly of the ballet world with a series from Breaking Bad Co-Executive Producer Moira Walley-Beckett and multiple-Oscar®-nominee Lawrence Bender. Also involved would be Roswell producer Kevin Brown.

The series would follow a young female dancer named Claire – who has a troubled past – as she joins a prestigious ballet company in New York. For more details follow the jump.
