Collateral Beauty – I Hated This Movie!

Collateral Beauty is a story about grief, recovery and redemption – themes also found in Kenneth Lonergan’s brilliant Manchester By Sea. It angered me because it appeared to be an entirely different movie than the one suggested by the trailers – and by being a remarkably treacly film on its own merits.

Eye in the Sky is an intense war film that examines the price of war. It suggests that the cost of war is too high – whether you’re in an actual on the ground conflict, or not.

This is Alan Rickman’s last film and it’s one that does his talent – and that of everyone involved – proud.

Gustav Klimt’s most famous painting – so famous it’s a postcard! – was taken from its Jewish owners by the Nazis and wound up in a Vienna museum after World War II.

Woman In Gold was also a portrait of Maria Altman’s Aunt Adele. She wanted it back so she sued the government to reclaim it. Helen Mirren stars as Maria Altman in the film Woman In Gold along with Ryan Reynolds as Radol Scoenberg, the lawyer who represented her throughout.

Check out the trailer following the jump. Woman In Gold opens on April 3, 2015.

THE HUNDRED-FOOT JOURNEY

The Hundred-Foot Journey is kind of an opposite of recent sleeper hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel – an Indian family comes to Western Europe and cultures clash. A superb cast and some really elegant food make for an intriguing recipe.

Tasty Trailer: The Hundred-Foot Journey

02

DreamWorks’ The Hundred-Foot Journey is the story of how an Indian family’s decision to open an Indian restaurant across the road from a Michelin-starred classical French restaurant affects the family’s son, the French restaurant’s proprietress, the family and the region. It’s a story about how cultures may initially clash, but a bit of insight, open-mindedness and just the right amount of spice – embodied in the Indian family’s son – can bring them together.

The Hundred-Foot Journey stars Helen Mirren, Om Puri, Manish Dayal and Charlotte Le Bon, and opens on August 8th. Check out the luscious trailer after the jump.
