Walton Goggins Digs Into The Psyche Of Justified’s Boyd Crowder!

Walton-Goggins

Not only is Walton Goggins doing a bang-up job portraying the unpredictable Boyd Crowder on the FX hit Justified [Wednesdays, 10/9C], he is clearly delighted to be doing promotion for the show.

I had the chance to take part in a conference call Q&A with Goggins earlier this week [my third such opportunity]. Despite a glitch that obscured part of the opening question, the session was great fun – Goggins was as thoughtful, articulate and engaging as ever. Such is his enthusiasm that it is easy to believe that he would enjoy going on about the show, and Boyd, for hours – instead of the mere half hour we usually get with him.

Joelle Carter Talks Being In The Middle Of The ‘Man Storm’ On Justified!

justified-Joelle-Carter

Last week, I had the opportunity to take part in a conference call Q&A session with Joelle Carter who plays Ava on FX’s hit series, Justified [Wednesdays, 10/9C]. She spoke about Ava’s survival instincts and her burgeoning relationship with Walt Goggins’ Boyd Crowder – a relationship that is unique because, in the series premiere, she had just killed her abusive husband, who was Boyd’s brother.

Just as Justified is a unique series, Carter is a unique woman, with an interesting take on her part in the series.

Justified’s Timothy Olyphant Is A Straight Shooter!

justified-season-2b

FX’s hit, Justified [Tuesdays, 10/8C], features a classic hero – filtered through Elmore Leonard’s unique style – in Raylan Givens. I had the opportunity to take part in a conference call with the series’ star, Timothy Olyphant and, as you will see, he’s tough to put one over on. Like Givens, he calls ‘em like he sees ‘em.

Warning – Olyphant does use occasional strong language.

Justified: The Complete First Season – Elmore’s Lawman Sparks Terrific DVD Release!

Justified, S1

The story of Deputy U.S. Marshal Raylan Givens marks the first time that Elmore Leonard’s work has worked on television. Thanks to cable network FX, the series has been allowed to depict the quirkiness, humor and unexpected bursts violence of Leonard’s work – as well as his crackling dialogue. The first season DVD includes some excellent bonus material that goes into detail about that was done, making it well worth investigating if you’re a fan of great crime fiction and TV.

HOLLYWOOD INSIDER: Elmore Leonard and Graham Yost Talk About FX Hit Justified!

FX TCA: JUSTIFIED: L-R: Timothy Olyphant, stars as Raylan Givens, Graham Yost, executive producer / Writer and Elmore Leonard, Executive Producer. CR: Ray Mickshaw / FX

It’s not everyday you get to take party on a teleconference Q&A with a legend, I recently had that opportunity on a call with creator of the FX series Justified [Thursdays, 10/1C], Graham Yost and the man whose work provides the source point for the series, Elmore Leonard [both pictured above with star Timothy Olyphant] – writer of such wonderful novels as Get Shorty, Maximum Bob, Out of Sight and the novelette that first gave is Raylan Givens, Fire in the Hole.

TELEVISION: Justified – Elmore Leonard’s Angriest Man Works for FX!

Tonight’s premiere of Justified [FX, Tuesdays, 10/9C] will not be the first time that Elmore Leonard’s work has been beautifully adapted for television – but it might well be the most successful one. While previous efforts – Maximum Bob and Karen Cisco – may have been somewhat hamstrung by network Standards & Practices divisions, Justified is on FX, the home of Rescue Me and Archer. And it shows.

Justified01

U.S. Deputy Marshal Raylen Givens [Timothy Olyphant] is expelled from Miami and exiled to Lexington, Kentucky after giving a very bad man twenty-four to leave or be shot dead. He didn’t and, after he pulled first [as Givens puts it], found himself dead by givens’ hand. If Givens wasn’t something of a maverick – in his Stetson and cowboy boots – and had he not issued the twenty-four warning, things might not be so bad. But he did and it is.
