The final season of Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz, Saturdays, 8/7C) opens with a bang as Da Vinci uses one of his new weapons to destroy the vanguard of a Turkish fleet that is attempting to take the city of Otrano. Then things go horribly wrong.
The swashbuckling fun of Da Vinci’s Demons appears to be gone – but the drama remains.
Da Vinci’s Demons has been given a third-season order by Starz Entertainment. The series, created and run by David S. Goyer, ‘follows the ‘untold’ story of the world’s greatest genius, Leonardo da Vinci, during his turbulent youth in Renaissance Florence.’ It’s mix of political drama, whimsy and swashbuckling adventure has earned the series a sizable fanbase.
For season three, John Shiban (The X-Files, Breaking Bad) will join the series as Executive Producer and Showrunner. Goyer, who has been very busy with movies, says, ‘I’ve been a fan of John’s work for some time and I’m excited to add his voice to the mix.’ Goyer will continue to serve as an Executive Producer on the series. If you’ve drifted away after five or six episodes, episodes six through nine will air, back-to-back on Saturday, May 24th, beginning at 8/7C.
The entire second season will air on May 31st, beginning with the second season premiere, The Blood of Man, at 12/1C and culminating in the premiere of the second season finale, The Sins of Daedalus at 9/8C. The full schedule for both marathons follows the jump.

When Starz’s oddly charming, ridiculously entertaining series Da Vinci’s Demons returns for its second season on Saturday, March 22nd (9/8C), things get even more chaotic than they’ve been so far. There are new threats from Rome and a deadly competitor in the race to find the Book of Leaves – possibly a new enemy even worse than Pope Sixtus.

Da Vinci’s Demons was one of last summer’s most pleasant surprises. The Starz series, created by David S. Goyer, turned out to be a smart, fast-paced speculation on the least documented years of Leonardo Da Vinci.
Season Two of Da Vinci’s Demons is now in production and we have four new photos from the production. Follow the jump for the remaining three.
On tonight’s season finale of Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz, 9/8C),The Lovers, The Pazzis prepare a murderous plot for Easter Sunday. The Turk tells Leonardo where to find the Book of Leaves. Lucrezia makes a confession as Leonardo attempts to save the Medicis.
As I noted in my review of Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz, Fridays, 10/9C), it is ‘a fast-paced hour that mixes all the pomp and grandeur of historical fiction with a sense of joyousness and fun that makes (it) a genuinely unique experience. A+’
For the Memorial Day Weekend, Starz is giving the series a week off to allow viewers an episode or two to catch up – with a ‘Catch Up Marathon’ of the show’s last three episodes on Friday – and new viewers to come aboard with a marathon of three of the show’s six eps to date on Saturday and Sunday. Follow the jump for details.
The series will resume its run with a new ep, The Hierofant, on May 31st.
Da Vinci’s Demons (Starz, Fridays, 9/8C) is one of the year’s most delightfully skewed pleasures. As the second half of the show’s ten-episode first season continues, a clue from the Turk about the Book of Leaves sends Leonardo to Wallachia, where he encounters Vlad Dracula. Lorenzo and Piero meet the Duke of Urbino. The search for the true spy continues.

Da Vinci’s Demons has been renewed for a second season. The historical action-fantasy series from Starz premiered to some of the network’s best ratings and no small amount of critical acclaim (yours truly gave it an A+ based on the first three epsiodes).
