Coheed and Cambria Rocks MD! By Sean Heintzelman

If the nostalgia of a new Dave & Busters in downtown Silver Spring wasn’t enough, then the local concert venue usually has you covered.  On May 6th the Fillmore hosted Coheed and Cambria’s “Good Apollo: I’m Burning Star IV Neverender” tour, dedicated to their 2005 album of the same name.  It’s amazing when a rock band has lasted so long in this day and age, let alone sells out a venue within hours.

Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball DC Lineup Announced – Meghan Trainer, DNCE, Fifth Harmony and More!

Jingle Ball is one of my favorite events of the year. For one reasonable price I get to see some of the year’s hot performers in one spot, in one night. The acts are on just long enough to get a taste of all the hits. I also appreciate that it’s a well run show with no downtime in between acts. This year’s Hot 99.5 Jingle Ball takes place at the Verizon Center, December 2016.  The lineup includes Meghan Trainor, The Chainsmokers, G-Eazy, Fifth Harmony, Diplo, Ellie Goulding, DNCE, Alessia Cara, Tove Lo and Daya, plus a Special Guest appearance from Niall Horan. Capitol One Presale starts, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10am and general public on the 17th. Proceeds will be donated to the The Ryan Seacrest Foundation. Check out the Hot 99.5 website for more information.

Dreamworks In Concert Comes Wolftrap – Tomorrow (Thurs)

I hate it when events are one night only. Dreamworks Animation in Concert is coming to Wolftrap tomorrow night (June 30th) and I can’t go. Whine…. I live for concerts like this. It’s a fantastic way to introduce orchestral music to people who don’t like it.  The concert features favorite moments from beloved films of DreamWorks Animation with music performed by the National Symphony Orchestra against the backdrop of large projection screens.

Pitbull, Mr. Worldwide Comes to Verizon Aug 4th!

A friend recently said that he had this running joke about Pitbull being everywhere. I didn’t notice this until he mentioned it and he’s right. I see his mug on TV or here him mentioned at least five times a week. Mr. Worldwide is coming to The Verizon Center, August 4th. Prince Royce is joining him on The Bad Man Tour.

Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas is Bringing The Future Now Tour To DC

Everyone here knows of my irrational love of Demi Lovato. I saw her 4 times last year (that I gasp, paid for) and had several opportunities to interview her but could never make it work. Gah! I’m proud of myself for talking to Wilmer at SDCC without asking about Demi (I’m a professional you know). Anyway, Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas have teamed up for their next national tour. The Future Now tour is coming to DC’s Verizon Center July 26th – jeeze, I can’t plan that far ahead. Tickets go on sale Sat. Nov 7th with pre-sale on Nov 3rd.  Demi will be on Good Morning America, Thursday Oct 29, and the tonight show Oct 30th.  The full court press to promote her new album Confident is in full swing.

Sometimes it really is great to live in a big city like DC where there’s always something going on. To date, over 685 diverse partner organizations from around the country will join Facing Addiction to launch a first-of-its-kind campaign to let our nation know that addiction is preventable and treatable, that far too many of those affected have been incarcerated, and that people can and do get well. The concert will be held this Sun, Oct 4th, from 4 – 8pm.

Music: Allday is coming to DC’s U Street Music Hall Nov 4th.

Mixing the indie aesthetics and #healthgoth attitude of underground artists like Yung Lean, with the laid back beats of hip hop faves like Chance The Rapper, Allday is leading a new era in a genre all his own. The Adelaide rapper arrived with his new mixtape, Soft Grunge Love Rap via US label, Wind-up Records, with an exclusive premiere on NYLON and followed with hype from Clash Mag, AV Club, Fuse, Dazed and Confused and more. Now, the rapper makes his US LP debut on Bullett Magazine.
