As we approach the conclusion of season one of Joe R. Lansdale’s Hap and Leonard on SundanceTV, the network has put together a mini-festival of short films based on his stories for its Shorts On Sundance.TV series.
The Joe R. Lansdale Short Film Festival is live as of today – with a trio of films: Hit Call, Bar Talk and The Drunken Moon. Follow the jump for details.

As the first season of SundanceTV’s hit series “Hap and Leonard” comes to an end (finale to air on SundanceTV on Wednesday, April 6 at 10p/9c), fans can further explore the creative mind of Joe R. Lansdale with short films based on his work at the network’s digital destination, www.Sundance.tv. The Joe R. Lansdale Short Film Festival will include three short films based on stories by one of the greatest contemporary writers of today. Joe R. Lansdale is a prolific fiction writer who has published more than 40 novels and numerous short stories in many genres, including Western, horror, science fiction, mystery and suspense. Lansdale is the winner of the British Fantasy Award, the American Horror Award, the Edgar Award and nine Bram Stoker Awards. In 2007, he received the World Horror Convention Grand Master Award, and in 2015, he was honored with the Raymond Chandler Award, celebrating a lifetime of achievement in noir storytelling.
