LOS ANGELES – Aug. 9, 2016 – AXS TV’s live concert series THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS will honor the music of two legends lost this year with special 90-minute tributes to Prince for the premiere Sept. 14 and David Bowie Sept. 21. The weekly live concert series produced and hosted by Katie Daryl, which airs Wednesday nights at 10pE/7pP from the Whisky A Go Go in Hollywood, will also feature an epic finale with the show’s first-ever tribute to Jimi Hendrix Nov. 16.
The 10-concert line-up also includes a tribute to The Beach Boys (Sept. 28) and, just in time for the anticipated Desert Trip Festival, tributes to The Rolling Stones (Oct. 5) and The Who (Oct. 12). Then, THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS celebrates a musical milestone with a tribute to Bob Seger (Oct. 19) honoring the 40th anniversary of his 1976 break out album “Night Moves;” followed by Pat Benatar (Oct. 16), 37 years to the day since the release of her beloved 1979 album “Heartbreaker.” Finally, a tribute to Journey (Nov. 2), marking the 35th anniversary of the band’s popular “Escape” album that debuted their biggest hit “Don’t Stop Believing,” and Parrotheads rejoice as a tribute to Jimmy Buffet (Nov. 9) takes the stage.
“One of my favorite things about THE WORLD’S GREATEST TRIBUTE BANDS is it provides a national stage for our talented bands to bring to life this timeless music we can sometimes no longer see and hear live,” said Katie Daryl. “After their passing this year, I knew we had to invite our amazing Prince and David Bowie tributes to return to the show to honor those artists and I am excited to finally present a tribute to one of the most innovative guitarists of all time, Jimi Hendrix.”
