MONTE-CARLO, Monaco – June 18, 2015 – NCIS, the #1 drama on U.S. television for six consecutive seasons*, continues to be the most-watched drama in the world, according to Eurodata TV Worldwide. This evening at the 55th Monte-Carlo Television Festival, CBS’s global powerhouse series received the prestigious International Television Audience Award for a Drama TV Series for the second year in a row. NCIS is distributed worldwide in more than 200 markets by CBS Studios International.
The annual International Audience Award is presented jointly by the Monte-Carlo Television Festival and Eurodata TV Worldwide to reward programs who delivered the highest ratings worldwide in 2014 across five continents in three categories: Drama TV Series, Comedy TV Series and Telenovelas/Soap Operas.
International Audience Award nominees were pre-selected** among the 15 top imported fiction programs in 64 countries, representing almost 3 billion potential viewers. NCIS garnered more than 25 million viewers worldwide in 2014.***
Having recently completed its 12th season in the United States, NCIS is more than just an action drama. With liberal doses of humor, it’s a show that focuses on the sometimes complex and always amusing dynamics of a team forced to work together in high-stress situations. NCIS Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs leads this troupe of colorful personalities, including NCIS Special Agent Anthony DiNozzo, NCIS Special Agent Timothy McGee and Probationary Agent Eleanor “Ellie” Bishop. Assisting the team is forensic specialist Abby Sciuto, medical examiner Dr. Donald “Ducky” Mallard and Assistant Medical Examiner Jimmy Palmer. Overseeing the operations is NCIS Director Leon Vance. From murder and espionage to terrorism and stolen submarines, these special agents investigate all crimes with Navy or Marine Corps ties. The series stars Mark Harmon, Michael Weatherly, Sean Murray, Pauley Perrette, Rocky Carroll, Brian Dietzen, Emily Wickersham and David McCallum, with Executive Producers Gary Glasberg, Chas.
