Meet Danny Pink. As played by new Doctor Who cast member, Samuel Anderson, Danny is a recurring character who teaches at Coal Hill School – where Clara Oswald also teaches. As always, whenever a new cast member comes aboard the TARDIS, the big question is why – and showrunner Steven Moffat promises answers in Peter Capaldi’s first season as the Twelfth Doctor.
Fans with keen memories will recall that the Doctor’s first terrestrial companions, teachers Ian Chesterton and Barbara Wright also taught at Coal Hill School and it’s the same school that appeared in 1988’s Remembrance of the Daleks and in the 50th Anniversary Special, The Day of the Doctor. It makes you wonder what trouble is brewing within those hallowed halls this time?

The Doctor is in the house! The Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi, made his new costume’s debut today. Capaldi said of The Doctor’s new look, “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
Indeed, Twelve looks like he means business! Check out the new look after the jump. Doctor Who returns to BBC America later this year.

Just in case you missed the BBC America live introduction special, The Next Doctor, It was revealed that Peter Capaldi is Doctor Twelve. Capaldi may be best known for his portrayal of the foul-mouthed Malcolm Turner on the BBC political satire, The Thick of It, which wielded language to the same Shakespearean levels as America’s Deadwood. But Capaldi has also played gentlemen and family friendly (at least language-wise) politicians – and has a Doctor Who connection as well: he played Caecilius in the episode The Fires of Pompeii during David Tennant’s run as Doctor Ten. He also has a sidereal Whovia connection, playing John Frobisher in Torchwood: Children of Earth. I wonder if his Doctor will think fezzes are cool.
Capaldi’s most recent big screen appearance was in World War Z and he will be appearing in The Fifth Estate and Maleficient.
Matt Smith makes his final appearance as the Eleventh Doctor in the 2013 Doctor Who Christmas Special. The BBC America press release follows the jump.
